About this mod

SkyUI, SKSE64, and JContainers SE Required.
Heart Breaker - A Killmove Mod gives you the ability to go all Temple of Doom on your enemies just before they die. If your enemy is injured enough to fall to one knee (Bleed Out), you will be able to press Activate (Keyboard Default "E", Xbox Default "A", PS Default "X") to rip out his/her Heart.

Rip Out Heart Hotkey
Perform the Killmove with a custom Hotkey. Default activation method is disabled when mapped, unmap to use the default activation method.

Learn Spell Power
Adds a Lesser Spell Power that allows you to put an enemy into Bleed Out with one hit or bash. Has a 50 minute cooldown.

Spell Power Hotkey
Cast the Heart Breaker Spell Power with a Hotkey. Will only work if the Spell Power is learned.

Essential Kills
Allows you to perform the Killmove on Essential NPCs and Special Essential NPCs. You will receive a message when one dies if you have messages turned on.

Dialogue Menu
Upon activation, shows a menu that will allow you to select Rip Out Heart as an option. Only useful if other mods also allow for activating enemies in Bleed Out, not necessary if you are using a custom Hotkey.

Shield Un/Re-Equip
Automatically Un-Equip and Re-Equip your shield during the Killmove.

Draw Weapons
If your weapons are unsheathed at the beginning of the Killmove, you will automatically unsheathe them at the end.

Enemy drops equipped weapons at the beginning of the Killmove.

Broken Heart
Shows a hole where your enemy's heart once was.

Messages you receive about Essential NPCs, Hearts Added, and Cooldowns can be in 1st Person, 2nd Person, or Off.

Choose which hearts, if any, are removed from NPCs and added to your inventory at the end of the Killmove.

Magic Arm
Choose which glows, if any, are added to your arm during the Killmove.

Explosive Heart Breaker
Set the likelihood of enemy exploding into gore upon having heart ripped out.

Stagger Pulse
Enemies in combat with you will be staggered in the middle of the killmove, giving you enough time to finish it and redraw your weapon.

Choose whether or not you want the Spell Power to have a cooldown.

Monster Mode
Killmove can only be performed if you are a Non-Beast Form Vampire/Werewolf..

Briarhearts Mode
Killmove can only be performed on Briarhearts.

Immersion Mode
Disables Briarhearts Mode and Monster Mode to give a similar experience, but automated. The Killmove and Spell Power will be automatically learned when you become a Non-Beast Form Vampire/Werewolf. Before that, you will only be able to perform the Killmove on Briarhearts. Setup your Magic Arm and Explosive HB settings before enabling this and they will automatically switch on after becoming a Non-Beast Form Vampire/Werewolf.

Eating Hearts
Eating Hearts (Human, Elf, Orc, Khajiit, Argonian, and Briar) will reduce the time left on the Spell Power's cooldown by 10 minutes per heart, 20 minutes per Daedra Heart. Eating Hearts will permanently decrease the overall cooldown time of 50 minutes down to 30 minutes in increments of 5 minutes.

Reactions (Optional Install)
Requires MFG Fix or Opparco MFG Command to work. Enemies have a more "surprised" reaction when having their hearts ripped out.

Profile System

Save, Load, and Delete
As of Version 1.2 SE, Heart Breaker allows you to save and load all of your settings from the Profile System Page. Profiles will be saved to Data/Killmove Mod Profiles/Heart Breaker with the extension .HBMS.  The Profile System page will also display the currently loaded Profile as well as the number of profiles detected.

The Profile System requires JContainers SE to work and has been included as an option in the main download file's fomod installer.

Extract the .7z file and place the Heart Breaker SE.bsa and Heart Breaker SE.esp  into your Skyrim Special Edition\Data folder. Enable the Heart Breaker SE.esp in the Mods section of the main menu in the Skyrim Special Edition. You should overwrite all files when updating.

Uninstalling/"Clean Save"

1. Deactivate the mod.
2. Save your game.
3. Remove the following:
  • Heart Breaker SE.esp
  • Heart Breaker SE.bsa
4. Load save from Step 2.
Stop here if uninstalling, if not...continue.
5. Save again.
6. Install the new version you downloaded.
7. Load save from Step 5.
8. Play.

Compatible Mods

VioLens - A Killmove Mod SE

Incompatible Mods

1. Mods that make you use the activate button on NPCs that are down on one knee (i.e. Bleeding Out), unless that mod has a dialogue menu that pops up first asking you what you want to do. If it does, then enabling Heart Breaker's Dialogue Menu option may allow you to choose between heart ripping and whatever the other mod does.

Q1: Why did I end up ripping a heart out of thin-air?

A1: If an NPC is too close to a wall, or has weird positioning relative to you, it is possible that the animation will play, but you will rip the Heart out of thin-air. This is also a problem with normal killmoves and there's nothing I can do about it.

Q2: What's the difference between Normal Essential NPCs and Special Essential NPCs?

A2: Normal Essential NPCs can have their Essential Flag turned off while in-game, Special Essential NPCs are flagged Essential by Quests, and cannot have their Essential Flag turned off in-game. Due to this oddity, when Essential Kills is On, Special Essential NPCs will explode into gore even with Explosive Heart Breaker disabled, and leave behind a Bloody Satchel filled with items rather than the normal lootable gore pile.

Q3: Why do I have a Heart stuck in my hand and how do I get rid of it?

A3: This can happen if you have a script heavy setup, it shouldn't be a normal occurrence. To get rid of the Heart, Deactivate and Reactivate the mod in the Book Menu.

Q4: Heart Breaker is overwriting some files added by another mod, what should I do?

A4: Heart Breaker includes UILib Version 1 for the profile system to work. It doesn't matter which mod's UILib files are overwriting the other one's, they should be identical.
