So......it does light up dark areas, but I can see what appears to be my fingers. You know what happens when you shine a torchlight at your hand and start playing around to make rabbits and dogs? Yeah kind of like that, lol.
No but seriously, in real life shine a light from the spot where the spell sits in your hand and it'll do the same thing. Its not helpful for when you're running around trying to use it as a light, but its realistic.
Mod is great and has been working fine, but I'm trying to get some fine tuning. Is there a way to manually change the brightness of the spells? For some reason the normal and dim don't work, but the bright works and its way too bright.
interestingly enough, it does work if you enter an interior from an exterior with a spell already out. It seems to be the activation that fails while inside an interior.
Finally, some spell lighting in VR that doesn't require ENB. Been looking all over the place for a mod like this that actually works. Just wish it had a patch for Vokrii and Sacrilege, as I prefer those to Ordinator and Sacrosanct. The former two mods are basically skimmed-down versions of the latter two.
I think this mod needs an update. I use it with Apocalypse and Ordinator along with Rudy ENB. Some spells from Apocalypse work (the older spells) but newer ones don't. Colorful Lights for Spells mod page mentions that there's some difference between first and third person lighting animations and that to get spells to emit light correctly, the first person animation needs to be altered for it to work in first person. That would explain why this mod works perfectly fine in 3rd person for all spells, just not 1st person. But it's been like 4 years since this mod has been touched so I doubt there's any plans to update it lol
Super disappointed. I could not get this to work. Disabled all ENB and light related mods, and still no glow. If anyone has any tricks to make this work, please share. Thanks!
I'm guessing that anyone who uses a ReShade and/or ENB this mod wont work properly, It does work, and also the other mod like this "Spells emit light" they work fine, I know, I have used them. but the time I used them I had no ReShade or ENB installed, and I have no Idea how to create a patch sense both ENB and ReShade are installed manually, so I will continually use it outside and hope the Author would know how to create a patch. or if even cares at this point.
Same position, neither light emission mod works with ENB installed. Anyone know of a solution? There has to be one. I mean, torches work with ENB, so...
It works for me...somewhat. When I have flame in my hand, it lights up the area nice, but at certain locations in the dungeon it doesn't emit light. It is consistent. Some places in the dungeon it just doesn't shine. And some places in a dungeon it depends on which way I'm facing as to whether it shines or doesn't. The arc of no-shine also varies from place to place (so it might be a 10 degree arc that doesn't work in one place, but a 160 degree arc in another!). I'm using the latest enb with Rudy ENB for Obsidian Weather, True Storms, Arfien's reshader w/o McFly's ray tracing.
Solution #1: I have been learning about ENB and lighting. Found out that the (non ENB) lighting does not work reliably in 1st person. Unfortunately, this is a limitation of the engine, so there may not be a fix. HOWEVER, it appears that this limitation does not apply to 3rd person view! So, if you don't mind playing in 3rd person, your spells can reliably give off light using this mod!!
Solution #2 (possibly): I have not had any trouble with ENB preventing this mod from working. If you are using ENB with this mod, it may be that ENB is dimming the spell light quite a bit. Try going into 3rd person in a very dark corner and look for a very dim light on the wall or floor.
ENB does not appear to have the same limitation as vanilla lights. Thus, it appears that this may be possible solution to get spells to give off light. I am going to experiment and see if I can figure out a workable solution. What I believe is needed is a drastic boost in the ENB light generated by the spell.
