Welcome to Realm of Lorkhan 4.1 (Autumn 2022)

Thank you to everybody who has played Realm throughout the years! I'd argue that we've truly become Skyrim's #1 Alternate Start mod!

As the author, it's been very meaningful for me to be part of the 'New Game' experience of your dreams. I intend to continue seasonally updating the Realm with new features. Please continue sharing feedback! I began creating this mod 4 years ago, and each season I return to add new features, and I always read your comments.

This season adds something simple but effective, as well as gives tribute to some special people!

    New Feature: Class Backpacks

Begin your game by quickly looting a backpack designed with a certain theme in mind. This gives you a fast starting kit to begin gameplay, without needing to go into Secunda Hall to find specific low-level clothing or armor. Let me know if you have ideas for more!

    • Militia
    • Hunter
    • Guard
    • Student
    • Warlock
    • Thief
    • Smith
    • Herbalist

    Added Custom Statues
I've added two beautiful statues to the game, by the artists Hypn0sef and Tamira.

The first is a tribute to the user JadeRiver, who has throughout the years been a frequent guide to players who have trouble getting Realm of Lorkhan to work. You've helped many more people than you realize, JadeRiver, and you deserve a special place in the Realm! I hope your cat statue brings you joy.

The second is a tribute to the Patrons. Thank you to those who have donated! This elegant statue replaces the 'Book of Patrons'. You can get your name added to the list for as little as $1 over at my Patreon. Please only donate if you can well afford it — I live comfortably, and donations do not affect my pace or priorities.

    New Feature: Boons
Version 4.0 added Classes and Curses, and now 4.1 adds the first 6 Boons!
Boons are minor positive Shard Perks you can add to your character. These represent play-style tweaks that make you more powerful.

    • Boon of Mindfulness - Gain 30% more skill experience.
    • Harvester - Gain 1 extra ingredient at harvest.
    • Lucky - Gain 10% chance to critically hit.
    • Summoner - You can conjure 1 more summon (or raise 1 more undead).
    • Atronach - You have a 10% chance to absorb hostile spells as magicka (stacks with Battlemage).
    • Cat - You take 50% less falling damage.
Let me know if you have any ideas for Boons, Classes, or Curses! I intend to add more in future seasonal updates. I am particularly curious about contextual boons — such as ones that are only effective on certain days, with certain elements, and especially if they relate to previous Elder Scrolls games.

    Miscellaneous

    • Adjusted the exit position of the Whiterun shard to be closer to the city gate
    • Added more random spell books to the top floor of Secunda Hall
    • Default Player gender is now female! If you have hair mods, you will experience a longer load time when creating a new character. However this should save you time overall.
    • Removed some overlapping clouds from the Realm, as these were reported to cause performance problems with Skyrim VR.
    • Fixed spelling for 'Sorcerer' class

I took a look at that, unfortunately it does, when instead it sposed to give less fall dmg,
If twin crows is reading these it'll be some time she'll need to look at n fix , I don't use the latest ver, I use ver 3.6 , you might want to try that one as its still the old way that they had the realm you might like it better, cat boon there will give you less fall dmg ;p

I fixed it myself in SSEEdit, the ability for the Cat perk is linked to Summoner, but the proper link to Cat exists within the mod

Mercy, 20% less damage to playable races. Would this apply to Vampires?

Have you found a fix for this or what's causing it? I get the same popup.  I had ezPG installed and had misclicked in the installer to disable the alternate start.

BlackReaper, you're an absolute saint. I was tearing my hair out trying to figure out what how I'd borked my game now. That's what I (we) get for not reading mod descriptions, I guess.

Is this mod incompatible with Dyndolod? I am getting a ctd as soon as I hit begin and .net tells me dyndolod.dll is the culprit.

The crash only happens in realm of Lorkhan, everything else works just fine and when I disable dyndolod the crash goes away.

Mine doesn't crash and I use Dyndolod. I did have to remake my Dyndolod output though and it worked after that. So, you might have to delete your output and make a new one. Hope that helps! (I use Mod Organizer 2 so hope that makes sense).

Thanks you for the help but I found the problem, kind of... I read in the dyndolod forum that the DLL NG version has problems with an audio script that plays in dungeons and strangely this audio is present in realm of lorkhan and Alternate start.

So I followed the advice and generated the output with the old Dyndolod DLL and that cured the crash.

Oh I see! I didn't know the audio was causing the problem. Sorry couldn't help, but glad you found something that helps!

Hey, this mod alters the player's Object Bounds (the data that tells the game how big you are) to the point where the game thinks your physical model is a tiny spec on the floor.  I had to open it up in xEdit and port over the dimensions from Vanilla Skyrim to fix this issue.  Under most circumstances, this isn't even a bug that can be noticed, since hit calculation doesn't seem to use the OBND data.  This did become an issue, however, when it became apparent that I could drown in a puddle.
