    I'm working on an update to this mod.

    The update will include an MCM with the ability to hide the compass hud if you don't have the physical compass in your inventory. Or to only show the hud when the compass is equipped, or to hide the hud completely or not at all.

    Edit update it up! Added MCM and you can now choose hud opacity based on if you have the compass, or if it's equipped.

    This is the CONCEPT I've been looking for, but, please don't take any offense, the execution isn't done well enough at the moment. If the textures and proportions were better, and it looked like you were actually holding it, I would have downloaded it in a heartbeat. I don't mean to be rude, since this undoubtedly took a hell of a lot of work already. Maybe you could ask for permission to use Navigate VR's assets, if you're still working on this.

      I wonder if a framework like DAR or Animation Motion Revolution can improve the hand pose. It'd be worth investigating.

      DAR has conditions like IsEquippedRight, IsEquippedLeft.
      Random first person magic animation SSE with DAR definetly shows that replacing first person idles? is possible with DAR.

    Finally collected the items I needed to make this compass. Very, very nice it is too.  Is it me or is it just a little too thin/flat? I expected the compass to be thicker so it looks like it has working stuff in it. May I suggest making it a little thicker, like a real compass? Perhaps also have it in the hand like it is held? I play in VR so that would look right. Just suggestions, no force. ;)

    However, very nice and... Endorsed.

    Hello! Installed the mod and bought a compass off of the guy in markarth, but it seems like the needle is turning backwards! when i rotate clockwise, so too does the needle. I'm playing in VR, with open cities inside of markarth. Any idea why it is acting this way?

    What a brilliant little mod, so simple on the face of it, but much immersion.
    I don't know if you've given it any further thoughts, maybe a wristwatch style for VR use, or a Skyrim-esque nautical compass?
    Little gems of mods like this are amazing, keep it up mate :D

    I have always used this. I like the darker compass. I don't like the idea of a Dwemer compass. Not every device needs to be Dwemer. I also love that this is in hand and not just some HUD item because I am not piloting a MECH robot. I am adding this to leveled list because crafting everything from underwear to books in a forge is just as unimpressive as console commands. I understand crafting make it accessible without levellist conflict so I respect that.

    I am also removing the book for a staff, not sure why it's even in there, and cleaning it removed the Tamriel record. I loose all game sound except compass when using the new version so I am back to the old version. If you remove the name from the needles in armor the huge list of "compassneedleetc" does not show in inventory when equipping.

    I was trying to make a mod similar to this but put the actual compass at the top of the screen on the compass item, but i couldn't figure out how to get the umm i think its called shock wave file of the top compass to transfer to the item. If you could figure that out this mod would be almost essential in a game play with mods for realism. Just an idea for you, i'm sadly not that experienced myself.

      Hey, that's also not something I know how to do. I've never made my own hud elements and don't know anything about working with flash, but if I have the time I may try to learn.

    I think the chiming effect when equpping the compass is broken, I can't get it to stop

    Edit: Nvm, a quick trip to main menu and back to game fixed it. Still, it was quite maddening

    Ah totally necessary, can't believe nobody's made this before, novel. Has anyone tried tracking their position by using the compass with an equipable map? Would be pretty cool, navigating to missions just using this
