Port of The Golden Hen from original Skyrim to SSE by Jokerine and sLoPpYdOtBiGhOlE.  All credits go to them for the design, scripting and implementation of the original mod.  Many thanks for allowing open permissions to port this over.  The original mod can be found here:

The Golden Hen Restaurant

The .esp has been saved in the Creation Kit in form 44 and all meshes and textures have been processed through the latest version of the SSE NifOptimizer for compatibility with Skyrim SE.  Cleaning was not necessary as Jokerine did this with TES5Edit.  This mod does require the latest version of SKSE to work depending on your game version. It does have a few safe scripts that sLoPpYdOtBiGhOlE wrote and won't cause an issue.  I have this installed in my game and everything works fine.  Please keep in mind that Solitude overhauls might affect this but Jokerine stated that she had several Solitude mods installed and nothing affected the restaurant.  Please do yourself a favor and read the Description below that I included by Jokerine that explains everything about the restaurant and what it does and how it functions.  No dumb questions please.  Jokerine did a great job explaining all about it.  This mod is offered as-is and won't be getting any support from Jokerine as she retired from modding for the time being.  I will try to help as best as I can but I converted this straight from Oldrim and it is as best as I can make it.  Thank you.

Sorry if my pictures of the inside of the restaurant are dark but I use Realistic Lighting Overhaul and it makes the inside of some places look a little dimmer than normal.  Other players can post pics of the inside if they want.  It depends on which ENB or lighting mods you have installed.  I tried to take them during the day so it would come out better.

Lupus Hegemonia made an alternate sign texture.  I have included a pic of it in the 'images' tab.  Its much better than the normal one in my opinion.  It can be downloaded from the "optional files" in the file section.  Thanks to LH for his work and making it for me.

As Jokerine mentions below,  this mod will be compatible with mods that add other foods and such.  For best results,  please use LOOT or another optimization tool to make sure that the new foods show up and always make a merged/bashed patch.

Important!!  Please note that the restaurant is in the same spot as The Lofty Loft which is next to The Fletcher and will not be compatible at all.  It won't cause a crash but it would be goofy to have both mods take up the same worldspace so you have to decide which one you want if you plan on installing this.

No NPC Greetings (Special Edition):  Use this if you want to shut up all the NPC chatter and not go crazy with all the Patrons talking at you at the same time.

Here is the original description from Jokerine on the Oldrim page:

== WHAT ==
As stated above, this mod adds a very simple restaurant for the player to purchase and "manage" in Solitude, to the left of The Fletcher. I put that in quotations because all the player does is cook food and then sell it. Nice and simple. You don't hire staff, you don't build or decorate from the ground up, or anything of the sort - the place comes ready for the player to start working.

The restaurant can be bought for 30,000 gold. A book with details about the mod will be added alongside the key when the purchase is successful. READ THIS BOOK BEFORE COMPLAINING ABOUT ISSUES OR ASKING HOW TO DO THINGS. The restaurant has a map marker, although you will have to visit before you can fast travel.

The place will start closed so you can take your time to look around. Open the restaurant to the public by activating the key holder by the entrance. Once open, profits are made by activating either the serving cart by the working area or the catering boxes on the counter. These will parse the ingredients, drinks and food in your inventory (either raw or cooked, including mod-added meals), calculate the total price, add a small profit margin based on your Speech, and finally inform you how much you will be paid. You can agree or decline. Activate these as many times as you want throughout the day.

The profit is based on your Speech skill. Basically, 100 Speech will give you 2x the base price of whatever you want to sell.

This mod does not add any new food or ingredients. The decorations on the tables and displays around the restaurant are mostly static.

If you would like to simply have the place be a restaurant run by an NPC, summon the assistant and leave her there. She will sandbox near the cooking area and work as a regular merchant. There is also a bed in the basement you can borrow, so The Golden Hen can work as an Inn if you so desire.

When you're done and feel it's time for a break, activate the key holder again to usher your clients and bard out.  If you want to dismiss the assistant, activate the note you used to summon her. That is it.

The restaurant comes equipped with a common cooking pot, a baker's pot with the same functionality as an oven, and a small tabletop grinder to make flour. All of the containers in the main floor and basement (except for the register on the counter and the trash can) are safe and will not respawn. The safe in the basement can be opened with the key obtained when the restaurant was purchased.

If you need some help gathering ingredients, you can summon an assistant through a small note next to the clock in the kitchen area. This assistant is a merchant who sells consumables and ingredients of varying rarity.

Please keep in mind that the customers are a fixed group of NPCs. The restaurant is tagged as a public area, so if you have a mod that adds more NPCs,
perhaps some of them will visit. I haven't tested for that as it was not a priority.

The bard can take a little while to start playing sometimes. Just wait for him to gather his thoughts, or exit the restaurant and come back in. Eventually he will start playing. He only plays instrumental songs and does not take requests. If you want to fire him permanently, you will have to do it through the Creation Kit or

== WHY ==
Because I love cooking in this game and wanted to have a very simple mod to make profit off it. I make the world's tastiest sweet rolls~

== HOW ==
To install, extract the contents of your downloaded file to your "Steam/SteamApps/Common/SkyrimSpecialEdition/Data" folder. Then activate the mod through your preferred launcher by ticking the checkbox next to the esp. Or you can use your Mod Manager of choice to download the mod automatically. To uninstall, simply delete the files from your Data folder, and you're good to go.

== FAQ ==
- THIS THING IS TOO BASIC! I DEMAND YOU ADD [insert elaborate game mechanics that would require hours of implementation] OR I WON'T DOWNLOAD/ENDORSE/GIVE YOU IMAGINARY INTERNET POINTS!!
- I don't care if you download this or not. I know I am not enough of a unique snowflake to be the first one to want something like this, so I
wanted to share. I designed the mod so it would be very simple, and that's how it will stay. In other words...

- I hate [thing] and [thing] and [thing]! You should have done [thing] and [thing] instead! And while you're at it remove [thing] and [thing] and add [thing] and [thing]! And [thing] is NOT LORE FRIENDLY! FIX THIS!
- You don't get to make demands. If you don't like something in the mod, use the console to disable it, remove it with the Creation Kit or
TESEDIT, or sell it off. In other words...

- When I use the activators nothing happens! What's going on?
- Make sure you have the latest SKSE installed. This mod requires SKSE 2.0.7 or higher.

- HEARTHFIRE WORST DLC EVER! Non-Hearthfire version pls!
- No. I wanted the crafting stations and the decoration. In other words...

- Does the mod recognize mod-added food and drinks?
- Yes.

- I wanted to use the grinder and the game crashed, what's with that?
- No idea. It appears to be related to the Skyrim Romance Mod. I was unable to reproduce the issue - it seems to only happen to some people and not others. If it happens to you, you can make the grinder static so you don't activate it by accident by opening the console, targeting it and entering the command SetDestroyed 1. This will turn it into simple decoration.

- I went looking into the mod and I saw your scripts! I don't like scripted mods! YOUR EVIL SCRIPTS ARE KILLING MY GAME! Remove them at once!
- About 99% of the scripts are on activators. The "bad" kinds of scripts are the ones that endlessly and needlessly update themselves and choke the game engine. Anyway, if the scripts bother you, remove some with the Creation Kit or TESEDIT, but don't come crying when the mod breaks. In other words...

- I don't like the new crafting stations! They make no sense or something! Change them!
- Nah. Using the same furniture every single time gets boring, and I was having trouble fitting everything in. In other words...

- Does the little bell do anything?
- No, it's just for decoration.

- The new textures are too low res and ugly! I cannot stand this!
- It's what I had. I downscaled several textures to help reduce the file size, but when it comes to upscaling textures, I am at a loss because I am no good at texturing, so what you see is what you get. In other words...

- I don't like [NPC added by the mod]! REMOVE THEM AT ONCE!1!
- No. If you don't like having so many NPCs around (there are four customers and the bard), edit the mod in the CK or SSEEdit to remove them. The console won't work. In other words...

- I hate everything being static! I wanna pick things up!
- There are three main reasons why things are static. First, we all know how fidgety collision is in this game and clutter would be flying around all the time. Second, it would greatly hurt framerate to have so many little things moving around at once and the place is already rather
demanding, with all of the NPCs inside and all. And third, it gives me much more freedom when it comes to decoration. In other words...

- I'm lagging all over the place! Help!
- I tested this mod on a heavily modded setup, on a mid-range gaming laptop. I had no performance issues. But, due to all the stuff on the
shelves, if you're playing on a coal-powered machine you will definitively have some performance loss. Feel free to edit the mod and
remove some things if you cannot stand it.

- Can I use some of these files on my own mod?
- A bunch of things I'm using are already modder's resources, so just look around the credits tab to look for what you'd like to use. If you
cannot find the thing you want there, it probably means I made it myself. Feel free to ask if you're not sure.

- Is this compatible with [insert mod here]?
- If you have a mod that makes heavy changes to Solitude there could be issues, although the mod is as clean as it could be. If you find any
conflicts, please let me know so I can list them here.

- How come the mod looks different in my game than your screenshots?
- I am using several retextures in my own game and my own SweetFX preset, so results may vary.

- The mod is awful/glitchy/buggy/etc. I am going to uninstall it and I must let everybody know!
- Sad to see you go~

- The mod sucks!
- So does a vacuum cleaner ;)

This mod is not to be sold under any circumstances.  Jokerine made that very clear in her profile.  If you see this mod being sold anywhere,  its an illegal copy and should be reported immediately to a Nexus moderator.    I am not the original Author,  Jokerine is.
If you want to show appreciation,  please consider endorsing the original mod.  If you like this mod,  please endorse it.

Final Thoughts:
This is another simple port from Jokerine that worked out really well.  I have other Jokerine mods to port over around the holidays.  These are themed and will be brought over at the right time barring any issues with meshes,  CTD's and worldspace issues and other mods altering the areas.  Let me know if there is any issues with the file.  Enjoy the port and good luck.
