About this mod

Adds 1 interior area filled with bookshelves for player's use: enough space to store 1,760 books! It's the Great Library of Markarth, accessible just inside the Markarth main gate (fast travel to Markarth, turn to your right and walk about 30 paces). Books are placed on the shelves automatically by generic Bethesda script.

INTRODUCTION

I was always irked by the lack of shelf space in the player houses - one small bookshelf in Breezehome? Are you kidding me? I hoarded hundreds of books (using other mods) and had nowhere to put them, so I set out learning the Creation kit to create my own personal library.

- no new scripts. only vanilla bookshelf activation scripts used.
- module cleaned with SSEEdit, and free of dirty edits/ITM's.
- module flagged as ESL, and does not count toward 256 limit.

WHAT THIS MOD DOES
It adds the Great Library, an empty library with shelves capable of displaying 1,760 books (books can be placed by activating any shelf). The 'library' is a single room filled with EMPTY bookshelves as shown in the screenshots. YOU MUST STILL FIND THE BOOKS TO PUT ON THE SHELVES. Each of the 40 bookcases can hold 44 books (11 per shelf, 4 shelves/case) or 1,760 books - more than enough space for a typical character's adventures.

There is also a storage area in the back of the library with a personal storage chest and 50 free books, which you can use to begin filling the Great Library. You can use the chest as free storage, or simply close the door and forget it's there.

MARKARTH EXTERIOR CHANGES
I modified a section of Markarth's worldspace to include an entry door (two exterior screenshots show what was edited in Markarth and where to access the Great Library). One new interior space was added, "ModManGreatLibrary". A sign (1 nif file and 1 .dds texture) was added to the cell outside the front door to the library. No other changes were made.

COMPATIBILITY

Any mod which edits the Markarth exterior cell where the library door is located, will be incompatible. All other mods will work. Below are 2 mods which will NOT work with my mod:

RECOMMENDED MODS

The following mods go well with the Great Library:

Books of Skyrim SE (Adds a store so you can buy even more books)
Books of Skyrim Reimagined (updated version of BoS SE)
Book Covers Skyrim (To make their appearance like the screenshots)
Book Covers Lost Library (Adds even more books to level lists and makes them look good)

ABOUT SCREENSHOTS

The screenshots were taken without using ENB, on my old GTX 970 computer with Ultra settings (Win 7), using graphics mods with 2k/4k textures like Rustic Noble Furniture(4k version). Your library may look different than the above screenshots.

VERSION HISTORY

Future Plans - FOMOD, higher grade textures for sign (current 1k, will add 2k/4k options), add compatibility patches with Open Cities and Unlimited Bookshelves.

Version 1.2 - Ran mod through the latest version of the Creation Kit to have it fully compatible with latest Skyrim SE (I have Steam version, 1.6.1170). Noted some collision boxes out of place and fixed them. Added shadow mark and brazier/light source to exterior sign.

Version 1.1 - Fixed a save game issue. In Version 1.0, when saving inside a cell it was removing the save game sorting, forcing the player to "Show All Saves" to reload a save. It didn't corrupt the save, it only changed the way the save was sorted. This was due to the name of the cell being "_GreateLibrary". The underscore "_" caused the issue, which I solved by researching and stumbling on an article by Arthmoor. I removed the "_" in the cell name and now it saves fine. I also added the missing front door sign and its texture, and 3 location references were removed by using SSEEdit so the mod is properly cleaned and form 44 for special edition.

Version 1.0 - Initial Release.
