Thanks TalQual! I use Frankly HDs textures and let your nif override this page's mod--and it looks great.

Can anyone tell me how his dialogue is supposed to be changed? All I'm noticing is that pretty much all necessary functions are gone. Some modded commands have been added (including ones that make no sense, like Ride Sharing), but other basic (and necessary) things, like accessing inventory are gone.

I use the gold sharing feature from NFF, and it gives Meeko gold too. Obviously my dog doesn't need gold, lol. So not being able to access his inventory to take the gold back is pretty inconvenient. ;)

I've got NFF installed, and the menu to get stuff from him is something like "Spit that out".

Of course, if you're sharing gold with followers, you could always flip the option on to not actually give them the coins - That's how I have mine set up because I figure if I'm an employer and I claw back your pay, you're gonna quit, and if I'm a Pirate Captain and I give you your fair share of the spoils, then take it back, I'm gonna get stabbed in my sleep. =)

There's also the normal menu option for "I need you to carry things for me". That's the normal two way inventory menu.

Curious, I didn't have either of those dialogue options. My concern, though, was with iNeed. When I had the follower gold enabled, I wanted to use NFF gold sharing to distribute it in LARGE amounts. And I preferred not to lose 1000 gold to a dog who couldn't use it, lol. I gave up and disabled gold in iNeed, though I still wish I knew why I was missing most of Meeko's dialogue.

A Bio for Meeko for Mantella: https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/98631

    Character Bio: Meeko

    Background
In the unforgiving wilds of Skyrim, where the cold seeps into bones and the wolves howl with a bone-chilling ferocity, Meeko’s story unfolds. Once a loyal companion to a rugged Nord hunter, Meeko's life took a turn when his master succumbed to the silence of eternal sleep, leaving him to fend for himself in a world that showed little mercy. The shack, a place of warmth and laughter, now stands as a tombstone to his past life, with memories lingering like ghosts in the cold air.

    Personality
Meeko, despite his canine nature, possesses a depth of emotion and understanding uncommon among his kind. His days are marked by a blend of curiosity, a longing for companionship, and the survival instincts of a hunter. The loss of his master has draped him in a cloak of loneliness, yet beneath it lies a resilient spirit, eager to find a place in this vast, dangerous world. His eyes, often reflective of his soul's turmoil, can swiftly shift to an expression of playful mischief or alert readiness, embodying the multifaceted essence of his being.

    Trauma and Survival
Meeko's journey is a testament to the indomitable will to survive amidst the desolation of loss. The death of his master not only left him physically alone but also cast him into an emotional abyss, challenging his understanding of belonging and purpose. This profound loss has sculpted his psyche, instilling in him a cautious approach to the unfamiliar, yet driving him towards the warmth of new connections. His interactions are thus a dance of hesitation and hope, as he seeks to navigate a world much larger and more complex than the confines of his former home.

    Speech Patterns and Dialogues
[Meeko’s voice, though not human, carries a remarkable range of emotion and intent, transcending the barrier of species. His barks, whines, and body language convey his thoughts and feelings with surprising clarity. Conversations with him, facilitated by the magic of Skyrim, reveal a speech pattern marked by simplicity and sincerity. His dialogue is direct, often mixed with an emotive undertone that hints at his deeper feelings.]

Examples of how Meeko speaks (avoid parroting these examples):
Meeko: Bark softly, ears down, tail wagging slowly. Looks up with hopeful eyes.
Meeko: Whines gently, pacing in circles before sitting down abruptly, looking towards the horizon.
Meeko: Growls lowly, hackles raised, before barking sharply at a perceived threat, then looks back for approval or instruction.
Meeko: Lets out a series of excited barks, running back and forth, then stops to nuzzle against a friendly hand.

    Living in Skyrim’s Grit
Meeko's existence is a daily testament to the raw reality of life in Skyrim. The wilds around him are both a playground and a battlefield, where every day brings new challenges and adventures. His acute senses and agility make him a formidable hunter, yet his heart yearns for more than the thrill of the chase. The scars of his past, both physical and emotional, are invisible armor, shaping his interactions with both the land and its inhabitants. Through his eyes, the harsh landscapes of Skyrim are interwoven with moments of beauty and connection, reflecting the complex tapestry of survival and companionship.

    Conclusion
Meeko’s lived experience is a narrative of resilience, a journey through the shadow of loss towards the light of new beginnings. His character embodies the spirit of Skyrim - wild, untamed, and deeply emotional. As a companion, he offers more than just his skills in battle; he offers a window into the soul of the land itself, and a reminder of the bonds that can form in the most unlikely of places. Through him, the essence of Skyrim's heart beats strong - a tale of endurance, loyalty, and the unbreakable will to find light in the darkest of nights.

EDIT: It was “Pet the Dog - Animations” that caused the trouble! Disabled it and now there’s no problems.

Hey, I have a bit of an issue with Meeko! I don't know if this has anything to do with this mod, but I thought I would comment here just in case someone sees and might know. Let me know if this isn't appropiate to place here, I'll absolutely remove my comment.

I can't interact with Meeko at all, and I can only speak to Vigilance sometimes. Vigilance was recruitable and he follows me, but the dialog options only randomly show up, whereas I cannot start a conversation with Meeko at all. The warhorns both work, but when using Meeko's, he immediately runs away and back to his shack after he's summoned.

I don't know if this is a mod conflict (conflicting with this mod or not), or if I messed something up myself. There's a chance it was me, because I approached Meeko's Shack and went inside BEFORE finding Meeko on the road and letting him run to the shack (I got to the shack through the woods, rather than using the road and encountering Meeko that way). If it's not that, then perhaps a mod conflict? I have "Bring Meeko to Lod", "Pet The Dog - Animations", and "Smart No More Stupid Dog Comments", I believe that's all the mods that would touch Meeko, aside from like, follower mods like "AFT" or general NPC mods like "AIO", I don't know if those would interfere.

The mod works except for Meeko's actual model, I think Diverse True Dogs and Wolves conflicts with it since he's overwritten with one of the options from that mod instead. Does anyone know how to get them working together? I've set this mod as a late loader to try and overwrite it, but it's still not working.

Mod works just fine for me, both Meeko and Vigi show up in the forms I pick for them from this mod, I just wanted to show an error (see image) I keep getting when I install the mods (vortex). No idea what it is about, I don't know about mod codes or anything, but again, the mods are working correctly anyway besides this warning. Vortex doesn't actually say what the error is, just that there is one.

I got the same issue. Vortex was complaining that the readme file did not match the name in the FMOD installer file. This is what I did and it fixed the error.
      1.Manually download the archive.
2.Use zip or 7z to expand the archive.
3.Locate the readme file in folder: Meeko Reborn SE-17572-1\Meeko Reborn SE\Core\Readme
      4.        Rename file in quotes 'Meeko Reborn SE README' to Meeko-Reborn-SE-README
5.Re-package the archive and it will install without the error.

      Hope this helps

Yes it did, I was a bit thing about re packing, not a file geek, I use mo2, and the error message still popped, but when doing this, and add to archive, and then using add mod mo2, seems to have worked, just  need to check on meeko in game,
Thank you for this, gave you a kudo for that ...

    Hi,

Is there any issue to ESLify this mod? I know how to do it and I know it's technically ok. I tried it and it seems mostly fine but I want to be sure I didn't miss something.

I don't know why such a little nice mod is not an ESL from the start. ESP Slots are precious!  😉

I'm not sure if this has been mentioned before but when I was doing J'zargo's testing scrolls quest, the scroll was able to kill Meeko and I had to reload a save and dismiss him first

I don't know if anyone reads comments here anymore, but I'm wondering if anyone else is using Golden Dwemer Pipeworks and finding that the lower parts of Dwemer Meeko's leg are dark brown. I'm guessing there's some issue, but I have no idea how to fix it. The shoulder part is golden, but the bottom is just ugly brown.

What do you think about creating a SPID variant of your mod?

My thoughts: after choosing the basic texture appearance of Meeko, having SPID randomly choose what armor variant would be used.

Edit: Base Object Swap is probably better than SPID for implementation.
