I have been using this Browser for many years with Fallout 4 regularly, just moved to a new system and completely forgot that this even came from the Nexus.
Had difficulty with this BSA browser which it's probably just me who did something not being aware. While it did get the BSA files, it did not get them all, but however this is the only one I've found that I was able to actually open without any errors telling me I'm missing files in order to run it. And the other question, as it seem another user has, is why does this mod require internet to work to be able to extract any archives?
When opening the archive with Fallout 76 textures, selecting the preview, the textures are displayed correctly. When unpacking, almost all textures are black.
This is probably weird question, but why does BSA Browser requires internet connection to work? I'm running everything in isolated environment, and whenever something tries to use INet, it asks me whether I allow it or not. So I launched BSA Browser.exe and it tried to use my internet connection, I obviously said no, and it immediately crashed. Next time I launched it and allowed it to use internet connection and now it works... Why? Why does it need internet connection to read/extract bethesda archives?
Thanks, just moved to Windows11 and BAE wasn't working with some of the BA2 files in Fallout 4, mostly the materials archives. This works beautifully!!
This is probably such a stupid question, but the extracted bsa files are just a copy of what’s within the game? Once I’ve gotten what I need from them, is it safe for me to delete the extracted bsa files, without messing up my game? Apologies for my ignorance. Just wanted to double check. Thanks!
Files extracted from .BSA files will be identical.
For .BA2 only non-texture archives are guaranteed to be identical. Textures has to be slightly re-created because the packing process strips out the DDS header from them and uses an ID to represent the whole header. This isn't documented so it's guess work. It might work for textures also but I can't confirm.

Because I extract the file to modify it and then need to put it back into .bsa.
Hands down one of the best archive tools.
Fast,
Easy to use,
Does what it says.
Kudos!!
