Using a darkness ENB and this helps keep everything that's not within candlelight's glow dark. Without it, I can see even faraway landscapes in the dark while I have candlight up.
i use both of your mods. and it made a huge difference. i used to loath using candlelight while in 3rd person because the glow hurt my eyes. good job, it is an important quality-of-life mod.
Hello ThatSpartacusGuy :D Q: Doesn't the particle patch ruin this mod? Particularly lightspellactorfx.nif & impactlightspell.nif since they're(as my best guess) magelight spell nifs which aren't overwritten by your criminally underrated replacer?
The particle patch notes say they fixed a number of overly bright light spells. I am unsure exactly WHAT they did to remedy the brightness on their mesh. It should just be a simple mesh replacement of a few spell objects, so it will be safe to add and remove mid play-through. Test it out and decide which mesh you prefer the best.
Your meshes are WAY better. Absolutely place this mod after particle patch. In Addition, once installed, go to: - [drive:]\"[root-folders]"\Skyrim_Particle_Patch_for_ENB-SSE\meshes\magic" - *Change file names impactlightspell.nif & lightspellactorfx.nif to "lightspellactorfx.nif.Ignore" & impactlightspell.nif.Derpify (or other unworkable file-extension) so mod manager & game don't look at them or try to implement them. These 2 files are not handled by this mod and, though not as bad as vanilla, are not good enough.
*can always change back, and allows you to preserve the original should things change.
ThatSpartacusGuy, the only thing missing is a de-foggified mesh for magelight impact for when its cast at a follower/npc(thereby acting as if a follower cast candlelight). At least I still get some of that fog/smudged white smear stuff happening then. I do not recall having that issue in my last build(been using a mod just like it since LE; its a must), but post particle patch.... They do not seem to share our horror at having any hue/fluff/GawdAwfulness what-so-ever.
Try CLARALUX SSE - Controllable Lights Everywhere. Go into the facility just downstream from Riverwood and when you enter, there will be some controls with buttons and pull chains to adjust different aspects of lighting. Turn the color temperature to the "Cooler" side of things and go run around the "facilty" looking at the different lights and fires to check your changes. Wait til night to test this.

Would love a fireplace version too.
My ENB makes these glows often a bit too much.
