About this mod

Nerfs the bonus of the Mage Armor perk in the alteration tree by a significant amount, while removing the condition which requires you not to be wearing armor.

Permissions and credits
Pretty straightforward mod which overhauls the "Mage Armor" perk in the alteration tree.  Now, the bonuses will apply even if you're wearing armor, but they have been significantly reduced.

Vanilla mage armor:

Normally, in vanilla, the perk points grant you 100%, 150% and then 200% increase to mage armor effectiveness.  So for example, Stoneflesh normally gives you 60 armor, but with perks it will give you 120, 150 and then 180 armor.  However the buff will not apply if you are wearing any armor.

Modded mage armor:

With this mod, the perk will now grant you 33%, 66% and then 100% increase to mage armor effectiveness.  So for example, Stoneflesh normally gives you 60 armor, but with this mod's perks it will give you 80, 100 and then 120 armor.  These buffs will apply whether or not you are wearing armor.  Yay!

Why?

For my current playthrough I decided to be a conjuring, ward-slinging light-armor-wearing spellsword who conjures his own weapons, and BOY OH BOY am I squishy!  I play on Legendary difficulty and use Simply Balanced tweaks so that combat is generally more deadly (I deal and receive more damage).  So... yeah, even with another mod to improve wards I am still WAY too squishy and combat isn't even fun anymore.... so I wanted an immersive way to improve my chances in combat that didn't feel too "cheaty".

So here we are.  I think it strikes a nice balance between a slight buff, but nothing too OP... so that later on things don't get out of control.

Note that this will change all mage armor spells in the (vanilla) game, including those for NPCs - so a wizard NPC wearing just robes relying on mage armors will also be more squishy now.

And FYI this is compatible with Ordinator (which I use), since that mod doesn't even touch mage armors in the game.

Note also that I've only tested the mod in a very rudimentary way (I opened up the game, cast a mage armor on myself and the stats were correct), but I wasn't inclined to test every combination possible.... so if there is a problem let me know.

Enjoy!
