About this mod

This mod adds a Fortify Bound Weapons Enchantment to the game, Compatible with all mods that add new bound weapons. Includes a new, unique necklace. This enchantment works the same as Fortify One Handed, etc. but instead of buffing one weapon type, it buffs whatever weapon you have equipped as long as it is a bound weapon.

First off,  I just want to say a big thank you to  Kiaos for porting this mod to SSE for me, show him some love and give him a wee kudos :D

Bound weapons suck. They just do. They're really, really bad and it's nigh on impossible to justify using them, an that sucks, cause they look fuccin sicc. Which is why I went along tried to make a mod that may add enough of an incentive to justify using them. This incentive comes in the form of an enchantment that can be applied to any piece of armor you would usually apply a fortify weapon enchantment to. This enchantment increases the damage dealt by bound weapons and bound weapons alone, no matter what type of weapon they are. This can be very useful when you are playing a mage-y character and don't want to use up too many enchantment slots, but still want to hit people with sneaky ethereal arrows and bash their heads in with big fiery ghost battleaxes. This enchantment has a number of advantages that I think were necessary for it to be used instead of a normal fortify enchantment, and they are as such:

  • The base cost is lower than Fortify One and Two handed, etc.
  • The enchantment buffs all bound weapons, regardless of type
  • The base enchantment, i.e. the one you use to enchant your own stuff, is higher than the vanilla fortify One Handed & Two Handed Base Enchantments.
  • The amulets with this enchantment you find in the game have a higher strength than  corresponding One Handed & Two Handed Base Enchantments at the same level, this is explained more clearly in the table below.

There are three versions of this mod, one that has an extra 10% of a buff for bound weapons over vanilla fortify enchantments, one that has an extra 25%, and one that adds a whopping 40% extra damage. This table shows the strengths of each of the leveled necklaces added to the world for each version of this mod, and their corresponding values from the Vanilla One Handed Enchantment it is up to you how strong you want to make the enchantment.

Of course, you can always disenchant the amulets you find and create your own wacky enchantments in the comfort of your own house!

I have added a new necklace model for this mod, the Necklaces of Ethereal Binding this enchantment comes on are unique to this mod, and can be seen in the images section or along the top bar.

The enchantment can be found throughout Skyrim on new amulets shown in the Images section. These amulets have been added to two leveled lists pertaining to enchanted necklaces, so these necklaces should show up anywhere a normal enchanted necklace would. Bear in mind that leveled lists are tricksy, and in order for this mod's leveled list effects to be compatible with everyone else's you should create a merged patch for your load order if there is a conflict. This conflict won't crash your game or anything near that, but it's still a pain in the butt. Regardless of this, there will be one guaranteed drop of a leveled necklace in Fellglow Keep, in a Strongbox added to the Dungeon area, as shown in the Images section.
If you want an unenchanted version of this necklace you can add it to your character's inventory using the code:
Player.additem XX00287c 1

Where 'XX' is the load order number of this mod.

If you're sure you have no other mods affecting necklace leveled lists then there should be no compatibility issues. I know that adding stuff to leveled lists manually is bad modding etiquette, but I could not for the life of me find any tutorial that showed how to do it properly, all I could find was people saying 'Don't do it this way' without explaining how to do it any other way, not very helpful... But yeah, this should be compatible with all weapons that add bound weapons themselves, thanks to an uncommon stroke of Creation Kit luck. Sometimes you catch a break it seems.

I highly recommend you use Bound Weapon Redux by Aertyr along with this mod, it's a great mod and if you're looking to boost the power of Bound Weapons further there's no better place to go.

Q: Did you just take the Gauldur Amulet and put it's normal map into the diffuse slot to make that Necklace...?
A: Yes.

So I haven't extensively bug tested this mod yet so if anything unexpected pops up please let me know. Also, let me know how the enchantment balances out, it seemed good for my game, but a lot of people have a lot of different setups so if you feel like 40% isn't cutting it please let me know and I'll look into making something a bit stronger. If anyone has MCM experience and feels like helping out I'd love it if you could help me make an MCM to edit the strength of the enchantment in game.
