Bandits don't attack me until I've hit them 4-5 times with the mask on (so they usually die). I assume this is vanilla behavior with aligned characters, but I think it should be changed to 1 hit because bandits wouldn't tolerate that. I'm going to have to see if I can edit that for all factions to try to fix it for now.
The masks stay on after decapitation. It looks hilarious but it's still a bug, is there a way to fix this? Edit: Assigning the masks to a different body slot solves this.
be carefull, this mod makes bandit non hostile to you even if you uinstalled this mod. i tried to wait around 5 game days and they stil wont atack me, i tried almost everthing i can think of and yet bandits remain non hostile
I haven't experienced that at all. The only issue I've noticed is that when I enter a new cell, I have to remove the mask, wait, and then put it back on before it works again. So I just hide for a moment to do that before any bandits see me.
Can you make a mod where wearing the Dawnguard helmet hides your identity? It defeats the purpose that if you're wearing it being part of the Volkihar faction that Guard knew that it was you that committed the crime. Also, I've found that your followers that lived in the city where you committed the crime attack you when you come home to where you have them living ( Your Home Is My Home ) until you go back to that city and turn yourself in.
/Can you make a mod where wearing the Dawnguard helmet hides your identity?/ You can try out SUM'MER. It's a modular compilation of small cool mods you can try. One of the modules is disguise, that lets you impersonate a member of any faction (except Bandits) by wearing their armor/clothing
I had a question and hoping someone could help. Could I safely remove these from other bandits' outfits in SSEEdit, and just use a craft able version for my own Character.
What's the safest way to disable the mod's disguise ability? Should I remove "hasBanditFaceMaskKeyword" from the masks? Or perhaps use stopquest BanditFacemaskQuestController?
After looking at the scripts it seems removing the Object Effect "BanditFacemaskSpell" from each facemask would be the most efficient way since it would prevent the script from running; please correct me if I'm wrong.
Got it. Thanks for the quick response Ruddy :) cheers. btw I love this mod, it makes so much sense that bandits should be disguised. PLUS as a good character I don't run the risk of attacking an innocent person whenever I want to get the drop on a bandit.
Ah, so disabling the object effect may also disable the bounty effect, meaning if you attack someone it will go to your regular bounty and not have the "gray cowl" effect. I cant remember how I implemented that tbh, whether it's on the item script or as a perk entry point added to the player.
Ah yeah, probably the best bet You could butcher up my files as well to replace the textures if wanted as I believe I used higher res textures as a base iirc
This is excellent : ) I was looking around for alternatives to Sneak Tools and this mod popped up in my search. Just gave it a quick test drive by strolling into a bandit camp with a mask on and then taking the mask off, it all seems to work perfectly.
It allows you to disguise yourself as members od different factions: Imperial, Thalmor, Stormcloack, Forwsown, etc... even Necromancer. You can aslo disguise yourself as a bandit in that one, but only by a MCM option, and wearing Fur Armor. With this mod it seems you can disguise yourself wearing just the mask and wathever set of armor you have. Is more practical in a way and probably you can use both together.
In my assassin/thieve/drug leader gameplay i used disguises to infiltrate places where i was hostile to the faction residing that place. Or to infitlrate bandit places and sell them skooma.
I dindt try that one yet (i will soon), but i suposse you will be able to enter the prision without hostility, since you will be recognized as a member of the Thalmor. However i dont think there will be any new dialogue. Also, once you free the prisoner, i think he will start attacking all the thalmor guards, and if you are disguised as one, probably you will be attacked too. Or maybe not but you cover will be blown if you help him kill the guards, so my approach will be enter the prison disguised and kill all the guards silently, then free the prisoners.
Anyway, i will give it a try soon and tell you about it. I will also try to disguise myself as an imperial soldier, to see if talking to Tullius will give me the option to ask for the prisoner to be released-
That's pretty much how I would hope it to work. I just wondered if the mod will effect whether quests get recognised as having been completed if you get through them using disguises.
Will try it myself, just that I've yet to have a playthrough that isn't terminated early by my game crashing or me changing my mind about what mods I want installed : )

Could you please make one to disguise as a forsworn?
Thank you.

Now I realize though I should have just downloaded the mod this was based on, Face Masks of Skyrim. Silly me.

Do you happen to know how well it combines with quests? For eg, rescuing whatsisname Graymane from the Thalmor?
