Thanks so much for this, the only point in the game where i have had infuriating glitches and bugs. wanted to let people know this works with the karliah chain issue as well as her not recognizing you as a nightingale, when using different replacers for the armor or armor not spawning.
The easiest way to resolve this bug without commands and without mods is: - Save the game during the conversation of Karliah and Brynjolf on the stairs, right after wearing the Nightingale armor; - Load the saved game.

I had to enter the command to release the chain twice. But that could have been my error or some oddity in my computer.
