It really isn't lol. All you need to do is activate it once and all your spells are ready to use. You don't ever have to turn it off if you don't want to.
it's not complicated- you likely just think it works in a different way than it actually is meant to.
Spellsword isn't a mod meant to let you tweak its functions mid-combat. It's instead something you set up beforehand. it works by force-casting spells of your choosing when specific actions are performed.
for instance, you can set it to case Firebolt and Ice Shard on a power attack. you can set it to cast Fast Healing and Ironflesh on block. you can set it to cast Turn Undead and Backlash on block bash. You can set it to also cast Fireball and Chain Lightning on using its special shout. you can even bind specific spells to directional power attacks.
that's ONE setup. at any point you can swap between FOUR different setups, each with their own predefined combos using your spells. you can effectively use melee and magic without ever dropping your sword or opening a favorites menu to select spells or requiring most of your favorites hotbar to do so.
the mod is very very very good, but I can definitely see why it'd feel impossible to enjoy if you're trying to set this stuff up in the heat of combat.
the gist of it is:
think "I want X spell to occur when I do Z" select spell X (works with up to two spells at a time, one in each hand) go to Wizard Warrior: Import Mode and press Z to activate the power. you're asked to select a trigger method for the two spells in your hands. select the method and the "page". confirm.
you bound a spell to an action and can now cast it that way. it'll still cost magicka as normal so it's more like a QOL / combat flow mod than some cheat that gives you freebies, though some specific spells can have long cast times bypassed this way (as an example, one of Enai Siaion's spell packs includes Plasma Sphere, a very high damage Adept spell that is made balanced by a 6-second cast time. Spellsword can cast it instantly, and even spam it a few times per second if you have enough magicka)
Hello. I use this mod with ordinator, odin, apocalypse, conduit and spellsiphon. All in MO2 and it looks like nothing owerrides mod files. But i do not get Destruction experience for spells casted this way. Maybe you have some ideas to start with? What can I check to debug this? Maybe there are some icompatible mods I shoud be avare of?
The concentration spells are not working well, they cancel when i change directions walking, and even when i don't they cancel after a while, even without magicka running out, does anyone know of a fix?
Can we set this mod so the effect is always enabled and is not required to press a toggle button. I play with a controller and after every so often the effect is turned off automatically (usually happens after I pass time with the wait menu).
Does anyone have any idea on how can i fix this issue?
Extraordinarily buggy. It breaks at random times, if you try to switch groups the mod breaks and requires a new game to fix because your assigned spells won't work anymore, the gamepad support doesn't work at all, and instant spells will only work on keyboard. I can go on, but it looks like the last update was 2 years ago, so I imagine it needs to be updated before it can really be used. The gamepad support also needs a little love.

Update version 5.0.1
Don't have much test on it, please report the issue
Thanks and enjoy it .
*Attention :
Found a bug on 5.0.0 where empyt enchantment spell will cause CTD , to avoid it just bound an enchantment on it .
If you want to switch one enchantment effect to another , you have to restart the game to make it work.
HARD PASS.
just Use Conduit its way better
