About this mod

Drastically increases pickaxe attack speed, reduces damage... Reduces immersion.

Lets you manually mine faster, without issues instant or faster mining mods tend to suffer... Like mining all 4000 pieces from a clay/stone node by accident.

Made it simply to remove time spent mining without increasing items gained.

Permissions and credits
v1.1 - Changes other pickaxes in the same way as the basic Pickaxe... Notched Pickaxe, Rocksplinter, Ancient Nordic Pickaxe and Hoarfrost included. Optional No-Hoarfrost file available for those wishing to keep that as a standard weapon.

This mod is really just a quick and dirty fix (so to speak) to an issue I have with mining in the base game, one intended to avoid causing other issues with mining itself and some mods that edit mining.

Increased various mining pickaxes attack speeds from 1.3 to 3.0, increased range from 0.7 to 1 to hopefully stop the instances of some nodes not being in reach of manual mining. Reduced their damage to 1, and weight to 5 (I've always felt 10 was excessive). They should no longer benefit from One Handed skill either, mainly to prevent using them to level the skill faster. Also added a "[Tool]" prefix to the pickaxes to stay in line with item sorting mods like VIS.

Skyrim's mining is incredibly tedious at times, especially when there are many ore nodes in close proximity. The mining animation really adds nothing of value to gameplay or immersion. It might just be a few seconds, but across many nodes it really starts to add up. Manually mining by swinging the pickaxe is a bit better, but even still it has the same problem... It just takes too long to mine an entire node given how packed with ore nodes some places are. I love immersion, but this was one area I was happy to make a sacrifice in.

I've tried basically any fast/instant mining mod I could find. Issues like accidentally mining all of a clay/stone node (all 4000 pieces), or not getting gems when using '3 hit 3 ore'  type mining mods, always seem to crop up. So, I took a simpler approach and thought others might find it of use.

This is all personal taste obviously, so use at your own immersion-reducing risk really.

Since all it does is change the pickaxes though it shouldn't conflict with things like smithing XP granted for mining by some mods (such as Ars Mettalica), nor cause issues with not getting gems from mining, etc. Also means one doesn't have to resort to mining spell mods.

Realistic or immersive? Not remotely... But I'd argue the base game's approach isn't helping anyone to want to keep playing the game, so there's that. Personally I find mining spells can kill immersion just as much. Makes mining less far tedious though, which is all I was going for.

Also no clue how it'll go if you ever get attacked by someone with a mining pick, can't say I recall ever seeing an NPC attack me with one but no doubt there's an instance of it somewhere, hence why I reduced the damage. Probably be amusing to witness at any rate.
