    INIGO SE is here!

Get Inigo for the original version of Skyrim HERE. The current SE version is essentially the same as V2.3 for the

original Skyrim, with a few tweaks and minor additions. Check the change log for details.

    ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    Update instructions:

    • 1. Make sure he isn't riding, waiting, or relaxing.
    • 2. Save the game using the save menu and then quit to the desktop.
    • 3. Replace the Inigo.esp and Inigo.bsa files with the new versions.
    • 5. For those that use any kind of patcher, ASIS etc, be sure to re-run your patcher.
    • 6. Restart the game and continue from the save you made.

    ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    Changes:

    • Inigo has been edited in the new CK, tested in SSE, and cleaned with SSEEdit. Landscape edits are intentional. Inigo does not require cleaning.
    • Inigo's eyes were re-built in line with SSE's new meshes.
    • You can now refresh the aliases of npcs that Inigo can talk to with a new option found in the Talking section of the "Mind if I ask you something?" topic if one of them has been altered by another mod. The new option is "Think about the people you'd like to talk to. Maybe you're forgetting someone?" (Please read the description page section on npc scenes before reporting an issue.)
    • A new way to start the spider conversation has been added for those who use a spider replacement mod. It will now be available once you've settled the matter of your shared past, providing Inigo has fought a number of mudcrabs.
    • All random dialogue quests can be shut down manually with an option that appears at the top of his main topic list if one of them is running when it shouldn't.
    • Countless lines have been re-conditioned (many fired at a slightly different rate in the SE and have been adjusted to take this into account).
    • A new note has been added called "A load on my mind" that triggers his random loading screens when in Inigo's inventory. Remove it if you don't want to see the custom Inigo loading screens.

    ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    Placing Mr D on Inigo's belt in V2.4 -

Since an Inigo MCM isn't currently possible for the Special Edition, CdCooley has kindly added a way for you to place Mr D on Inigo's belt without it (on by default). The guy's a genius, what can I say. Use the console command below, replacing the # with the number corresponding with the option you prefer: (0 = not visible, 1 = large back, 2 = small back, 3 = small front)

    setpqv InigoStatus ShowMrD #

    ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

CDcooley has also added a few new commands for recovering Inigo and his gear. See the "I lost him!

I lost his stuff!" section of the FAQ on the description page for details.

    ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Watch this video guide to learn about Inigo's most important features

    ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

WARNING: Do not try to control Inigo with options from other mods.
    You will break his brain!

    ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Watch the User Guide Video and read the FAQ before asking a question or reporting an issue.

Vilja is now available on SE. Grab her here: http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/6722/?

She and Inigo are great friends and have hundreds of scenes together (see Vilja page for info on how to introduce them).

    WHEN IS V3 COMING???

I'm currently working on V3 (where Inigo's quest will continue and end). If I have to stop for some unexpected reason this post will disappear. V3 is massive. It will take as long as it takes. If you ask when it's coming out you will just be referred to this message.

You can find V3 preview material at http://friendsofinigo.com/exclusive_v3_preview_material

Ignore it. Nothing to see here. Gary was working on V3 already when he did the last bugfix, and there were a few bits left in that aren't in use yet, or fully finished. Also, there are some things that TESEdit thinks are problems that are not problems. This is not an actual problem and won't mess with your game.

You can install any updates of Inigo over your previous version, and on an existing save. No need for a clean save (you would lose all progress with Inigo). I have a playthrough where I have been updating Inigo on it since version 1.0. *dry chuckle* The intent is to always have updates be compatible with existing saves.

Another. brand new, companion who interacts with Inigo (as well as several other companions). So far, in just the brief time I've had him in my group, he seems brilliant, check out, Lucien if you like to party: :

Currently I have Inigo, Auri and Lucien, and it has been lively, to say the least. So far I am really enjoying it!
Treacleman has mentioned that Lucien is aware of Vilja, and will comment on her, but the two don't interact directly. I guess he has tried to reach out to Emma for collaboration, but so far hasn't received a response. I gather Emma has, sadly, left the Skyrim scene, because of the nastiness re: Vilja's voice, as well as the ES III and IV modding tools being much easier to work with.

I first saw mention of Inigo quite some time ago somewhere on social media and when the Special Edition came out I had a browse through popular mods that had been ported early on, and decided to grab Inigo. I've been completely enamored of him ever since!

The most important part of him to me (that I haven't seen brought up already) is that he doesn't just flesh out his own character in a way I've never seen before in a Skyrim NPC, but he fleshes out yours too. You have the choice with this guy to be someone who is diplomatic, compassionate, rude, to the point, thorough, and so on. I've played before as a successful character and had a bunch of fun building them up, but trailed off because I didn't pick up Inigo to take on my travels and the character didn't feel fleshed out without him to bounce off of.

Of course I have to echo as well the comments of others; Inigo is fantastically fleshed out himself, has a mind blowing array of things to say about literally everything we do, and a degree of situational awareness I'm not sure if I have myself as a living human. He's utterly fantastic, an absolute must-have for Skyrim, and I'd pick you to have my back in a dragon fight any day SBC! I hope you and everyone else who helps out in the process are all having fun making v3.0 :)

Hmmm...what if the courier is the DS? The courier has clairvoyance with the ability to locate the Dragonborn anywhere. He also has the ability to know when someone on Solstheim needs to send a note to the Dragonborn while he and the Dragonborn are in Skyrim.

Absolutely stellar mod, top notch. One thing to note, however, in the Da Vinci's journal, in the Atala's letter she refers to the moons as Masser and Secunda, however being a Khajiit (and assumedly hailing from a village focused on the moon worship), I would assume she'd more likely refer to them as Jode and Jone.

Blame it on Da Vinci, who is Argonian, translating Jode and Jone to Masser and Secunda when he copied down the letter into his journal. He was preserving it for his children, and he knew that they would be raised knowing the moons by their more common names.

Mkay, so. I just installed Inigo in the middle of a game, mostly to find out what all the fuss is about :p However, when I go to Riften jail he is 1. usually not in his cell (he seems to just pick any random chair in the jail: in some cases he's been in the cell opposite his own, which has a non-functioning door, making him impossible to get to), and 2. unwilling to follow. I go through the opening dialogue, recruit him... he stays put. Tell him to wait, then follow again... he stays put. Dismiss and re-recruit him... he stays put. Go outside Riften jail and use the console to summon him and he runs straight back inside.

The first time I tried, I had AFT installed but did not try to use any of its options on him. After he failed to follow, I thought that might be the issue - I uninstalled AFT, cleaned my save, and reloaded from before entering Riften jail. Even with AFT as removed as it possibly can be, he won't follow.

I've tried resetai, disabling/enabling him, moving him lower in my load order (though not right to the bottom) and disabling his Morrowloot patch. Nothing seems to work. To the best of my knowledge, the only mods that should be editing Riften jail besides Inigo are ELFX and Cloaks of Skyrim. Is there a known mod conflict that might be causing this, or am I just incredibly unlucky?

That really does sound like a mod conflict, or something trying to catch him in an alias. AFT is not the only potential culprit, for that. He is not usually found outside his cell, and it generally takes something specific to stop/prevent him following. Showing up all over the Jail makes me think it is something that makes him teleport to get to where he wants to go and sandbox, as that is not part of his innate design.

One way to tell what might be trying to control him (if it isn't just a weird/bad load order conflict, which would be rare) is to open the console (~), select Inigo with the mouse and type:

      sv

Then hit enter. The sv command should show if Inigo has been nabbed as an alias for another mod. You'll probably need to use the page up (and page down) key to see all the info. The quests with aliases from the Inigo mod should all have 'Inigo' in them. If there are others listed there (other than the AAE quests which are from Vilja and are also safe) take note of them, and list them here (or take screenshots). (It may be a mod that has a built in way to fix the problem.) Seeing the full sv list might give me some idea what is preventing him working. If you post the list as a series of screenshots, use spoiler tags, if you could, or post a link to them.

You could also try dropping him right down to the bottom of your load order. That usually is not necessary, and he shouldn't need to stay there, but it might help determine what is causing the problem if it is a mod conflict. Can you think of anything else you are using that might influence all NPCs?

Oh, and it is perfectly fine to install him in the middle of a playthrough, that does not generally cause any problems.

Aha, thank you! It was Run For Your Lives: the only alias on him that didn't have 'Inigo' in its name was 'Alias Citizen1078 on ARTHWVACitizensFleeEclipseAttack'. This would make sense, as there was a vampire attack when I entered Riften to pick him up. I stopped the RFYL vampire quest and he's following properly now :)

There you go, just a case of really bad timing. You can put the Morrowloot patch back in, if you want it, and you can use AFT alongside him for vanilla followers, just don't use it on him.

Yeah, that's really bad timing, once you pick Inigo up, he is a teammate and no longer affected by RFYL. But before you recruit him, RYFL has no clue that he is Inigo the Brave.

    Hi,

I have a recurring issue with Inigo, that I need to get sorted, or I'll have to uninstall him.
Is there any way to get him to ignore friendly fire? He keeps getting into fights with ANY mage companion, quest giver, etc. that cast an AOE spell close to him. This is extremely annoying. I tried setting his combat style via the options in the discussion menu, but there is no option that I can see to get him to do that. This seems such an obvious thing that should be included.
    Examples:
Illia summons a frost atranoch. It bumps into Inigo. He goes ballistic and starts attacking her. It takes several "whistles" to get him to stop this idiotic behaviour. She has been part of the party for a very long time, and he keeps doing this.
In the quest "A Scroll for Anska" he killed Anska. Seriously. Idiot!!!! She cast a flamecloak I think.

So, there has to/should be a discussion option like "Hi Inigo, friends make mistakes, be forgiving", or "Inigo, we are a team. Do not attack my friends"

As a character, Inigo is a great piece of work. But as a follower mod, he has some serious deficiencies, of which this is probably the most significant one. If there is no way to change this combat behaviour, I will uninstall him.
    Any suggestions?

Apart from breaking up the fights by whistling, you can tell Inigo to favour the bow, so he keeps his distance to enemies and thus AOE spells of other followers.
But Inigo will defend himself if he is constantly hurt, even by other followers, that's a design choice. And one that only makes sense. Just a little experiment, stay close to Inigo in combat and see how much you like it to be constantly damaged by the AOE spells of your followers, see how cool headed you handle the situation. I don't think it's too much of a stretch to say you will probably react in the same way as he does. That's what people appreciate about him, he reacts more like a human being than a zombie follower without any self defense mechanism, that includes getting angry at people who constantly hurt you although they should be your allies.
All in all it's a vanilla problem, that is probably masked by AFT making followers on the vanilla framework ignore friendly fire, the UESP page for Anska even warns about bringing other followers along because of the danger of accidental fights. As the page also suggests you can clear the dungeon without her and still finish the quest, which is what I did last time I did the quest, she wouldn't have survived against a Requiem dragon priest anyway.
Never used AFT but I think you can manage follower spells so you can remove any AOE spells from them, so they use only single target. And if you can't do it with AFT, there are console commands for removing spells. Preventing your other followers from hitting Inigo in the first place is another solution to the problem.
Lastly I can't tell if you can change his behaviour to ignore friendly fire, like AFT does, without breaking his brain, maybe someone else can answer that.

I guess I gonna close this with Gopher's famous words, remember as always, have fun.

edit: Oh, one last idea, if other followers use a specific type of damage spells like fire, give Inigo fire resistant gear. Resist magic gear will even protect against all sorts of magic damage and even stack with elemental resistances, but the single resistances have usually higher magnitude for being not so universal.

The way I deal with this is by using Inigo's summon spell and the "Get Over Here" summon spell, which resets the AI.
"Get Over Here" is a mod that allows you to summon those companions that aren't on their own system. It's an excellent mod.. simple, lightweight, and I would not play without it.

I appreciate the input. However, let's be real. Inigo is not a real person...he's a mod. Secondly, if he was real, would he have so little self-control that he attacks, with intent to kill, a long-time fellow adventurer? I think not. Thirdly, would he have so little respect for his "friend", or even team leader, that he will kill someone who joins the team after asking for their help? I think not. Unless he's completely paranoid schizophrenic psychopath type. Which his conversations suggest he is not.
So, my humble opinion is that this is poor programming. If I have to spend more time managing Inigo than questing, he is a poor companion.
Anyway, that's just my personal opinion. I had some other lore-related issues with Inigo anyway (Kahjit's are forbidden to enter any Nord city, yet you find him in Riften jail. And nobody questions him entering any Nord city in your company. Not that immersive for me)

I enjoyed his personality. But he was a poor travelling follower. I uninstalled him.

Blame it on Bethesda because their AOE spells never take faction/alliances into consideration. Many mod-added spells get it right (they specify "only enemies"), but vanilla and even some modded spells do not and simply spam damage in a circle. That's why mods have been needed in order to tame "friendly fire".
Or blame Inigo's past skooma use for him losing his cool.
Or, don't blame anything because you've abandoned the single best follower as far as personality, depth, and playstyle flexibility for Skyrim simply because you can't tame your other followers that spam AOE in ways that Bethesda never intended.

Inigo was designed to be an only follower, and he is brilliant at that. Some concessions have been made for those that want to have other followers along, and even some great interactions, but his original intent was still to be an only follower. If you can't be bothered to remove the problematic AOE spells from your other followers, and give them single target spells, that is your problem. *shrugs* They were all designed to be only followers as well, so they don't innately take other followers into consideration. Inigo isn't for everyone, he is for those that like what he is. If you don't, then he isn't for you, and there are other mods out there that might suit you better.

As for lore, if the player is a Khajiit, they can still freely enter any city, so obviously the restriction is on the caravan traders, not on all Khajiit.

Excellent point, Eolhin. We all know what happened when Vilja first got hold of a fireball scroll. There are a few companions capable of putting the beat down on Inigo, so best to keep them all happy.

Sonja, could you describe how the Get Over Here mod could help summon Auri if she turned up missing?

      Sure Moksha,
There is an option in the mod (it's a spell) that allows you to "mark" NPCs. Once marked (you cast the spell directly at them), there is a different spell that summons them.. It's as simple as that. Typically, I have things set up so that Inigo's summon spell is in one hand, and the GOH spell is in the other. This also works great for all of the INPCs, as well
In my current playthrough, I'm using "Get Over Here" with Rumarin and Auri; each follower is assigned a specific slot. When you summon them, you can do so all at once, or individually.

Also, "Get Over Here" works excellently in conjunction with "My Home is your Home."

I cannot be bothered to travel with a Kajhit psycho who attacks his comrades in arms. My story and I'm sticking it to it.

It's good to see a mod NPC establishing such a loyal devoted following. However, just getting the "accept this, accept that, if you can't be bothered to..." is rubbing me up the wrong way.
He is not for everyone. I travelled with him over 100 hours of game time, and am giving feedback about mod-related issues as I see it.
      Moving along.

And the mage "psycho"s who constantly attack their comrades in arms are not to blame at all?

To put it less succinctly, the author wanted him to still respond violently when attacked repeatedly. It is consistent with his character and history. It was a design choice (as falki said), and is unlikely to be reversed. Unfortunately, AOE spells can cause repeated damage in very quick succession, which sets him off. One solution would be to edit every single vanilla AOE spell to not target allies, but that would make the mod conflict with a great many other mods that alter spells, and still wouldn't take care of spells from mods that don't have that restriction. So the whistle and his spell are included, which have many uses, but also both work to break up fights. If that isn't enough, it is recommended that you do something to change out the specific problematic spells on the specific follower/s that you have with you. At that point, the mod author feels that he has done due diligence. My saying Inigo is not for everyone was not an insult, it was a simple statement of fact. No mod is going to make everyone happy. We tried to help you, and offer alternatives, but what you are asking for is simply not available at this time, and given it was a design choice, it is unlikely to happen in the future either. From there, the choice is yours. And has apparently been made.

A great many people, especially here, are very fond of Inigo, and you don't make friends here by being insulting to him and his creator, which is how some of your comments came across. But people tried their best to help anyway, because that is what we do here.

Usually when this problem happens to me all I have to do is walk a little bit away from where he and my other follower is fighting and Summon Inigo there. From my experience this always drops combat.

Is it possible to mage Inigo and Relationship Dialogue Overhaul work without incidents? I love Inigo, but I wish to have immersive interaction with others as well. Also, I think we can all agree that having more than one follower at a time is a necessity, so are there any recommendations for follower mods which would apply as well?

RDO and Inigo work find together.

The best follower to compliment Inigo is Vilja. They have custum dialogs with each other.
Other followers that I have liked are "M'rissi's Tails of Troubles SE," "Mirai - the Girl with the Dragon Heart (Skyrim Special Edition)," "Song of the Green," "Interesting NPCs" (Hosted off site from Nexus) ,and "Anna NPCs"

I interpreted the question as this:
RDO tooks at lines that are within certain voice types (Nord Male Even Toned, Female Nord Eager, Argonian Male, etc.) and if those lines are tied only to specific characters but could apply to the game in general then it allows NPCs that use that same voice type to trigger those lines. This makes NPCs of certain shared voice types have more to say.
So, perhaps the question is if Inigo could have more interaction with NPCs based purely on what voice type they use even if those interactions are generic. This is something that Vilja does to a certain degree (though the lines are limited).
On paper it's not a bad idea, but I honestly don't think I saw a huge impact from Vilja's implementation of that feature because of how limited the dialogue was. I'm not sure of the effort involved, but if it's a lot of work then it might not be a big payoff. It might be neat, but is it worth it? At this rate I agree with the current mod dev priorities which are finishing V3 w/ Inigo's quest and then doing DLC-awareness after that. When those are checked off I think it'd be a tall order to make too many more requests.

I second DSavage56's recommendations. Vilja fits a good-to-neutral playthrough wonderfully (and encourages you to be a good person). "Song of the Green" is a new-ish follower but already has more depth than any vanilla character and has loads of potential if more idles and quests are added later. Both mods interact with Inigo (and Interesting NPCs). "Interesting NPCs" is practically a must-have for me with everything that it adds to the game. I have limited experience with the others though I did watch YouTube play videos featuring Mirai and generally liked what I saw (just didn't fit my setup).

RDO and Inigo, in fact, compliment one another very well; each brings new life to the vanilla followers/NPCs. Or, at least in Inigo's case, to certain followers/NPCs.
As to other companions, in addition to those already mentioned, I'd suggest Professor Benjamin Doon. While he and Inigo don't have scripted interactions, their general commentaries mesh brilliantly, and their personalities sync well. In very similar fashion, Anum-La, from Interesting NPCs, works especially well with Inigo, despite the two not having any intentional, scripted banter.

@Katarsi: Can you please be specific about what incidents you think you are experiencing between Inigo and RDO?
Like the others said, RDO just expands the repertoire of lines that NPC of a certain voice type can (sensibly) use and Inigo grabs those he has interactions with only for those brief scenes and releases them afterwards, so they should work together without issues and do so in the experience of many that have used both together.

Thanks for all the replies, people

I eventually decided not to install RDO. I didn't try playing with Inigo and RDO together, it was just examining possibilities. But if you guys had tested it and they're compatible, I'll give it a shot sometime. I just hope RDO wouldn't mess with Inigo's lines - that was my biggest concern.

Yeah, I read everywhere that Vilja would be an awesome complimentary addition. I'll try that.
However, that wasn't actually my question... I phrased it poorly. What I meant is which mod that alters companion behavior would go well with Inigo; specifically, a good mod which adds more than one follower at a time. How would I hear a banter between Inigo and another follower if I don't have multiple followers enabled?

Inigo does not take up your one vanilla follower slot. Like many custom followers, he is on his own follower system. So is Vilja. So you could have Inigo, Vilja, a vanilla follower, a dog, an INPC follower, and several other custom followers, all without needing a multi-follower mod. The follower management mod is only needed if you want more then one follower that is on the vanilla follower system, or if you need it to add features to a vanilla follower. Inigo can work alongside such management mods, but never use one on him (or any other complex mod follower, like Vilja) as it will usually break the more complex non-vanilla custom followers.

"I just hope RDO wouldn't mess with Inigo's lines - that was my biggest concern."
RDO only adds dialog for those NPCs using vanilla voice types. Inigo, obviously, has a very much custom voice, so it shouldn't touch him at all.

The very safest companion system is to link whatever extra follower you want to tug around to Vilja's companion system. Keep in mind that too many companions become overly cumbersome, even with the Move It Damn It mod.

Keep in mind, Inigo will not have interactions with followers that are following Vilja, rather then the player, I believe.

Yup, if the vanilla follower is following Vilja, they turn invisible for Inigo. To hear the banter with Lydia, Erik and co they need to follow you directly.

Awesome guidance, thanks! I didn't actually need a follower mod, I just wanted to make sure that Inigo has company besides Dragonborn. It's good to know that I can have a cheerful crowd following me, without additionally burdening the game.

Did he give you the Power of Whistling book yet? When did this happen, after you could already whistle to him, or before? If after, try whistling, it should still work. If before, and you just left Riften, but don't have the book yet, you might have to wait for the scene to reset (the scene starts with that comment, if I remember correctly). If something like an attack, or getting on a cart, or other interruption, interrupts the scene, or you accidentally tab out of it, it will come back up again, just give it some time. All critical scenes like that will replay later if interrupted. Check to see if you already have the book though, in case it got that far.

no i dont have the book yet. it happened in shor's stone, shortly after clearing out the mine. i dont think the scene was interrupted per se, he just said it as a passing comment rather than when i talked to him.

He starts the conversation, not you. He says that line, then it opens the dialogue menu. If it didn't open the dialogue menu, then likely something interrupted it, and it should repeat. Here is an example of how it is supposed to go (thanks to Gopher):

You could of course just go back to the save just before that, but it shouldn't be necessary.
