If you are crashing, these mods should fix the issue for the vast majority of you. https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/13048 (Make sure this mod overwrites original papyrusutils.dll.) https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/24297 (Load this mod after Simply Knock.) Kudos to PHANTOMHATE, Keleigh3000 and so many others for trying to get this message across to everyone. We really, REALLY need one of their posts pinned to the top of these comments to head off everyone's frustration. On a (slightly) related note; use Vortex or MO. NMM is obsolete. You are simply giving yourself pain if you persist in using it. EDIT: "Simply Knock SKSE64 DLL" (the 2nd mod I mentioned above) was updated in November of 2019. Be sure to use the latest one. Several people have reported that the earlier version does not work with the updated SKSE. It won't cause a ctd, but the Simply Knock mod won't work. (You will go straight to the lockpicking screen.)
that's a bit too much buddy. Sure that this guy fixed your problem, but you wouldn't have a mod to even fathom the possibility of knocking without the original creator, so please, be mild.
I'm only here because after hours of hair pulling I figured out this mod was causing my instant CTD. (sure, I could have installed and tested only a few mods at a time, but that would've required patience) You are a godsend.
I haven't investigated Frostfall and Campfire yet, but as with all of his projects they are open source so I will take a look at porting them in the near future. I only started messing with Skyrim this week though, so I'm still new to everything! If it's a simple SKSE port just like Simply Knock, then it shouldn't be too difficult. It'll be more annoying if he uses APIs that are now missing in SKSE64.
Frostfall can be ported ok in theory, i have already done it for meyself with SKSE support. The problem is the new SKYUI menus aren't updated so frostfalls UI integration breaks SKYUI and leads to invisible warmth and coverage stats in menus along with weird $ and special character strings instead. It also throws SKYUI errors every time u open the menu. At least this was the behavior I observed when I copied and edited the SKYUI files and translation files from Oldrim.
You need someone skilled in flash or scaleform or whatever the hell skyrims UI is written in to fix it
I am using quick light for now as well (It's pretty good, I just think Wearable Lanterns is a better gaming experience. IMHO), waiting for Chesko/anonymousthing to get around to porting. Campfire would be great too! I am using Vilja for campfires & camps.
I'm sure Chesko sleeps much better at night knowing you are protecting his "open source" mods from nefarious mod authors porting them to a newer version of Skyrim.
Great mod, however it WILL SOMETIMES not work if you happen to have a key (to the door you want to knock on) in your inventory, which can happen quite often if you have the "Wax Key" perk.
I was having issues with Simply Knock overwriting the AE version of Papyrus scripts with an older version, causing mods like DynDOLOD to stop working. I found that loading Simply Knock BEFORE Papyrus scripts, not after, actually fixes that and the mod still works, counterintuitively. You'd think that Simply Knock needs to be loaded after since Papyrus scripts is a prerequisite that it's the other way around. Hoping that my comment will help someone if they're having this problem.
If you are having issues with DynoLOD due to papyrusutils.dll, here was my fix thanks Ethereal90's help.
Download latest appropriate version of Simply Knock SKSE64 DLL. Copy the SimplyKnock.dll from said download, and replace the one in the Simply Knock SE mod folder. Make sure PapyrusUtil SE - Modders Scripting Utility Functions loads AFTER simply knock, despite what mod author says in pinned comment.
Thanks for this mod. This added an interesting twist to my survival gameplay build and has quickly become a favorite of mine. It definitely solves the issue of me freezing my rear off in the middle of nowhere with no supplies. I often wondered why I couldn't just borrow someone's home for a bit to warm up in. Simply Knock has saved my poor freezing rear many times in Skyrim.
