I'm using Destructible Skyrim myself, it doesn't include food or firewood, so everything works fine.
For now you can't replace it with something unfortunately, it's the only mod that allows to smash furniture, but you can really expand it. For this I can suggest: Destructible Bottles Expanded (works for me on SE, allows to smash glazed ware as well), LightsBane (my mod, allows you to break lanterns), XMP Oil Barrels (also my mod, allows to ignite oil barrels, they explode after), Destructible Display Cases, and Burn'em Banners. There's probably more, but I haven't found any yet.
Using Destructible bottles and cases, too. Thanks for the pointers!
Too bad it's not compatible with Higgs - this mod is one of the centerpieces of my immersion (along with Planck and Vrik). Can't have everything, I suppose...
You can try it still, in case it actually works. It's just that someone already posted that it not working for some reason, but maybe there was a different problem there.
Considering that there is nothing in my code other than detecting a weapon hit, I guess the problem is in Higgs. I can't make a patch either, since it's a .dll, not a regular script. Well, I hope it works for VR in general.
You can try to type help "cutthisfoodquest" in the console and then you'll see its id in parentheses (ends with 800). Then type sqv and that id next to it. You will then see if it is enabled and running.
If yes but you still can't cut anything, try to test it by placing the object on the floor and then cutting in this position, maybe you just hit not the object itself, but the surface next to it (that sometimes happens to me), that's why it's not being counted
The possible reason could also be (if you are sure you have all the requirements and requirements of those requirements of course):
You are using a different type of weapon. The allowed ones have the following words in their names: Axe, Blade, Dagger, Halberd, Katana, Knife, Shiv, Sword
The EditorID of your food has been changed by some other mod, you can click on the item with the console opened and see. If it is different from the following, you will need to make changes yourself in _FLM.ini: (1st editorID - object to cut, next - leftovers) For the bread: FoodBread01A, FoodBread01B For the eidar cheese: FoodCheeseWheel02A, FoodCheeseWedge02, FoodCheeseWheel02B For the goat cheese: FoodCheeseWheel01A, FoodCheeseWedge01, FoodCheeseWheel01B
Yeah, that's most likely the problem. You should translate the words in _KID.ini, then everything has to work. You can also write them here, then I will post the file as a language patch
I tried to translate and now it works, I didn't translate the words katana and Halberd, because since they are not official TES weapons, I preferred to leave them like that.
Wow. I'll post it today. As for the bread, apparently I didn't take into account that half a slice and a whole slice are called the same. I'll post the fixed KID.ini as an update today too
As for Katana I leave it like this since it is a weapon that has this name also in ITA. Instead for Halberd what is the mod that you use where this weapon is found? I want to see if there is an Italian translation so you can insert it inside the mod translated well. I know well that the word Halberd is translated in Italian as "Alabarda", but I want to check if they have translated it like this.
I made the mod so that it would be as compatible as possible with all the others. If the survival mod changes the editorID, then that is the reason. I'm playing on version 1.5.97 and can't look myself. Maybe you could go into the game and click on any covered object, like bread? (It should be FoodBread01A)
I'm on the newest update, here my load order the mod is enabled and active i know cus earlier i used the version that gave u a bounty when u slice food, i would get a bounty but no food cutting. and screenshot of the console window for a few food items here NVM its working now! - maybe you just need to wait for it to load maybe enter and exit an interior. i was testing it in the alternate perspective area at first then in Whiterun market stalls and it wasn't working, then i re enter the inn and hit some bread and it works :DD
it works now but i have a different issue with it xd, when i hit a sliced bread it creates 2 more sliced breads, its a duplication glitch. does that happen for you? Oh nvm i see fix
Glad it worked! When looking at the load order I almost went insane thinking what could have interfered with the script. As for the bread, I posted the hotfix in the update files
What, you don't like the idea of a nice stranger decked out in plate armor coming into your humble abode and slicing all your cheese for you, then leaving? How ungrateful. I swear the villagers are getting more and more entitled every year...
Think you can add the sliced goat and sliced eidar cheeses to the lists. You could slice the sliced eidar to seven slices and the sliced goat to six.
BTW, thanks for the mod. Ever since I switched from iNeed to SunHelm, the function I missed from iNeed was that if you ate an entire cheese wheel, it counted as a slice and you got seven slices from the wheel in return. In SunHelm, you eat the entire wheel. This mod rectifies that.
There may be an easy way to rectify that in xedit, whatever the method for making a 3/3 waterskin become a 2/3 water skin, thats what you want. Might look in to this tonight
Edit: Actually it may be a script that does it, I couldn't find anything in xedit.
Yes, it's a script. By default you can only duplicate item, but not triplicate and so on.
So if you need to make many of the same pieces, you should either try to break the rule that says FormLists don't allow duplicates and manually enter the same editorID multiple times in the xEdit exactly (because FLM will just ignore them).
Or, which is the most effective in this case, but obviously long - manually copy the same item in xEdit, enter different form & editor IDs, and then put each as a leftover in the FLM.ini file.
But, as it seems to me, it makes little sense (within the limits of realism), because after all, the player makes one strike. And it's unlikely that something can disintegrate into 6-7 parts. That's why I didn't make direct support for this

How will this interact with Destructible Skyrim (https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/77568)?
It's very fun, but it's kind of outdated and a bit limited. I'd like to either expand or replace it.
Also, will this work in VR?

Edit: just remembered Better and Breakable Eggs.
As for VR, if you're using Higgs, it may not work. There seem to be problems with a weapon hit detection.

It's not compatible with VR at least with Higgs installed, i tried save and reload

it doesn't cut for me either, I tried to check if the quest works and it is active and working.

I use Italian and the word Axe is translated as ascia

I noticed that there is a problem if I try to hit the bread the already cut one duplicates it.

I checked the mod you use (Animated Armoury) and I confirm that the Katana remains unchanged, while Halberd becomes Alabarda.
Like: "why the heck are you cutting my cheese???"
