Implementation
- Implemented as a light master plugin (ESP file flagged ESL and ESM).
- Runs a self-starting quest which adds perks to allow the player to knockout and loot NPCs.
- The knockout effect is a scripted self-cast ability spell which paralyzes and ragdolls NPCs.
- NPCs with the ActorTypeGhost, ImmuneParalysis, or ImmuneKnockout keyword are immune to knockout.
- NPCs who are flagged invulnerable and all children are immune to knockout, unless modded otherwise.
- Uses powerofthree's Papyrus Extender for faster RNG, dynamic spell manipulation, and to find NPCs in high process.
Which NPCs can be knocked out?
With few exceptions, almost all members of all humanoid races can be knocked out, including NPCs and followers from other mods. However, any NPC who has the ActorTypeGhost keyword, or the ImmuneParalysis keyword, or the ImmuneKnockout keyword can not be knocked out. Invulnerable NPCs and children can not be knocked out either, unless you have a mod which removes their invulnerability.
Can I knockout creatures?
Creatures can be knocked out, however, some creature races are immune to paralysis, which also makes them immune to knockout. Creatures that can be knocked out include chickens, draugr, falmer, giants, hagravens, mudcrabs, spriggan, and trolls. Creatures that can not be knocked out include dragons, dragon priests, ghosts, horses, mammoths, skeletons, werewolves, wisps, and wisp mothers.
How do I knockout an NPC?
To knockout an NPC, first crouch and sneak up behind the NPC. Make sure you are undetected and then strike the NPC with a bash attack from a weapon or shield, or with a regular attack from a single-handed mace or hammer. If you are successful, the NPC will fall to the ground and be knocked out for a random duration of time, which is between 5 and 10 minutes by default.
Can I take items from a knocked out NPC?
You can loot any item from the inventory of a knocked out NPC by activating them, unless the item is part of their outfit. For example, you can take weapons from knocked out NPCs to disarm them, but you can not take their armor. The activation prompt text for knocked out NPCs will also display "Search (Knocked Out)", instead of the generic "Search" text typically displayed on corpses and containers.
Can I grab and move a knocked out NPC?
Yes, if Seize NPCs is installed, you can grab and move NPCs who are knocked out, but doing so will trigger an assault alarm. Additionally, this mod adds perks to the Seize ability which allow you to knockout or revive any NPC you have seized.
How do I revive a knocked out NPC?
An NPC will revive from knockout if more than 25% of their health is restored and their knockout duration elapses, or if an event occurs to revive them sooner. NPCs can revive from knockout early by being hit with a weapon or spell, or by being given a potion in their inventory, or by falling a detrimental distance. Knockout does not protect NPCs from damage or death, so you may prefer to use healing spells and/or health potions on your allied NPCs to revive them safely. Beware that if an NPC revives from knockout who is not your friend or ally, that NPC will trigger an assault alarm against you. NPCs will also revive from knockout if the player leaves the area as doing so will dispel the knockout effect.
