    This was SLOW going. The creation kit fought my conversion attempts every step of the way. The mod tested fine on two different PCs before upload however.

    The full version is a BSA file now since they cause less issues with mod prioritization than loose files. The "light"/ Classic version is loose files however. I have NO clue why but after ten tries I could not get the files to archive properly and always ended up with a gray face bug. Left loose, the light version works fine. Go figure.

    Use only ONE of the two files, which should be obvious.

    It may take a minute or two for the MCM to recognize the mod, and you will likely have to toggle the options in the menu once to get them to work properly. Beyond that, the mod works fine.

    I won't complain about any votes for file of the month either, lol.


    All joking aside, thanks to those who have endorsed the mod. That simple recognition of a job well done is what keeps most modders going.

    Firstly I like the mod but ...

    I'm having a problem with this mod.  It was OK at first but then the Dawnguard Sentries suddenly became hostile and started attacking me.  The town guards aren't hostile but the sentries are. The sentries are essential even with the MCM option unchecked.

    I don't know what triggers this behaviour, there were no interactions, I didn't speak to them, they just started to attack when I entered Whiterun as I had done many times before without incident.

    Once they have turned hostile they are hostile in every town/village you visit.  There seems to be no way to reverse this, even if you go back to a previous save they seem to turn hostile shortly after that.

    I am deleting this mod.  Sorry!

      I've never had this happen, and I've been using this mod since it first came out years ago. Is it possible that you're a vampire?

      Same here, I've had it installed since 2018 and never had this issue on any of many playthroughs.

      Never had the hostility issue, but they have always been essential since I installed it over a year ago and I can't get that part to turn off.

    Something I just noticed in the dependencies for this mod.  You have the hyperlink for SkyUI pointed to the legendary edition (https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/3863) and not the special edition (https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/12604).  Most of us -know- which version we need, but in case you want to change that, it might be a good thing for new folks.

    Was enjoying this mod for a little while, but not even a week after installing it's rendered my file unplayable. Sentries have randomly become hostile and immortal, and disabling/uninstalling the mod is not an option because doing so causes the game to crash with every save/fast travel/wait/enviornment change. It's a shame because it was othewise a nice addition to the game, but seeing as how it ruined my file I have to recommend that people DON'T download unless there's a fix in the future. Mind you, load order has always been a nonissue in my file even while I had this mod installed, there are no conflicts, and I've never had issues like this with any mod in the past. Again, a fix would be appreciated because otherwise I have to recommend people steer clear of this mod.

      If you uninstall a mod with scripts, yes it can mess your save, but you can save it with a Script cleaner 

      Note that some things can stay baked into your save, usually esp only mods or armor, weapon, item mods are safe to uninstall. You have to analyze each one.

    I am having an issue where the guard just are not attacking vampires. i was exiting the Dawnguard castle and moving along the path outside and 2 vampires jumped out of the bushes. the 3 close by Dawnguard guards just watched. one even ran away in fear. They are useless . Anyone else having this issue?

      Did find a fix for that? I'm having kind of similar issue. Whenever vampires attack, Dawnguard sentries just crouch down and cover their head in fear. When I finish off the vamps with the help of random townsfolk, they stand up again and patrol like badasses. I'm not sure if it's to do with vamps summoning some beasts that might cause fear for NPCs but that doesn't make much sense.

      Anyways, useless mod if the sentries don't fulfil their only purpose - protect agains vampires.

      Im having the exact same problem. Whenever Vampires attack they just crouch down and do nothing.

      Based on the comments here - I took a closer look at the plugin in xEdit.

      If you examine the faction header you will see changes made to DLC1DawnguardFaction which puts vampire related factions as enemies.
      Then, if you examine the DawnSentryFaction, you will see nothing listed in the relations.
      By that logic - the newly added sentries - don't have a reason to instantly attack vampires.
      If the DLC1DawnguardFaction relations entries are copied over into the DawnSentryFaction, then that should fix things.

      Sadly, it looks like the author is not active in fixing/updating it anymore. It's such a cool mod that adds immersion to the game, especially during vampire attacks.
      I remember having a similar mod on Oldrim and it worked very well.

    I've found a conflict with Katja The Thief from the paid Creations. The classic version of the mod causes the guards you talk to in the initial meeting to appear in the world version of Whiterun instead of the instanced on ( I don't use Open Cities)and Katja ends up just outside the wall behind Arcadia's next to the sentries that hang there (at least in my games).
    Is there anyone able and willing to make a patch? I've just turned off collision to talk to the guards in my most recent paythrough.

    So this mod is pretty useless if you use run for your lives because the sentries cower in place. I'm assuming this mod is dead and judging from a post on the LE version I'm assuming it's due to the creator's health issues or maybe they're just done with the game. If anyone understands how to alter this please let me know. I am willing to mess around with xEdit or the Creation Kit but I don't want to break anything just because of a slight annoyance

      This mod wasnt built in mind with run for your lives. It works really well on its own.

    Is there a light version of this? I get like 4 Dawnguard in every hold when I would prefer just one or two.

    Potential bug since this works with AE, the spider from pets of skyrim is in the vampire_thrall faction which causes the recruits in day spring to attack her non-stop because she can't be damaged. Not hard to work around you can just disable them in MCM but the Sentries outside don't attack her so maybe something wasn't carried over from the Sentries to the recruits?
