About this mod

Adds maps that reveal all locations of a certain type; e.g. all Dwarven ruins or all Word Wall locations.

This is another mod I created mostly for myself but felt like uploading because I figured that at least one other person might enjoy it. At the very least, I imagine that it might save someone else the work of putting ~300 location markers into formlists.

Description

This mod adds sixteen (as of version 1.0) map items in the game, each corresponding to a location type (e.g. bandit camps). By reading the map, all of the locations of that type are revealed on the player's map, like how receiving a quest will reveal the quest location on the map. This functionality was inspired by the vanilla book "The Explorer's Guide to Skyrim" which reveals four standing stone locations on the map. I took that concept and adapted the script; while before it could handle up to 5 locations, through the magic of formlists this mod can reveal upwards of 50 at once.

This is more for roleplay purposes than anything. I've often wanted to do playthroughs where I had a goal of, say, clearing all draugr crypts in the game. You could get a list of those dungeons off UESP or something (like a chump) and then just keep track, but I prefer this way. If your goal is just to reveal all map markers, you're better off just using the tmm console command.

Speaking of UESP, that's where I got the list of locations of each type. Unfortunately, in the course of making the mod I discovered that those lists aren't always complete. Some of them obviously are (e.g. the list of standing stones or black books) but not necessarily others. I have a complete list of locations in the readme; if I left any out, let me know.

The location types that have maps are, (in no particular order):

  • Bandit Camps
  • Draugr Crypts
  • Word Walls
  • Dwemer Ruins
  • Falmer Hives
  • Dragon Lairs
  • Dragon Priest Lairs
  • Standing Stones
  • Forsworn Camps
  • Spriggan Groves
  • Warlock Lairs
  • Vampire Lairs
  • Animal Dens
  • Giant Camps
  • Riekling Camps
  • Black Books

If you'd like to any other types added, let me know and I'll consider it. I was thinking about doing Hagraven Nests, but laziness got the better of me.

As you might have already guessed, these lists do overlap, e.g. all of the Dragon Lairs and Dragon Priest Lairs are also in the list of Word Wall locations.

Obtaining

All the maps are for sale at Belethor's in Whiterun. You should be able to buy them from Ysolda when she takes over his store if Belethor dies. Or you can just use the console to cheat them into the game.

Installing

Install with NMM or drag-n-drop into your Data folder. Includes an .esp and a .pex script.

This mod alters no vanilla records, so it should have no conflicts.
