"Discover lost secrets of the Thu'um in the endless Libraries of Apocrypha"
This mod adds a new skill tree called "Lost Knowledge." You can level up the skill by completing Black Books. You can convert dragon souls into perk points for this skill tree. Each perk upgrades a single shout.

Perks:
Hideen Aura: Aura whisper lasts 50% longer and turns you invisible while active.
Furies Haste: Your movement speed and jumping height are increased by 50% while Elemntal Fury is active.
Beasts Endurance: Your Stamina regenerates 50% faster while animal allegence is active.
Chronic haplessness: Drain Vitality lasts twice as long
Ancient Fury: Battle Fury lasts 20% longer and is 20% more powerful.
Etheral Abyss: Your Magicka and Stamina regnerate 25% faster while Etheral and become Etheral lasts 20% longer.
Flames of Oblivion: Fire breathe does 20% more damage and causes lingering fire damage.
Kynes Tranquility: Kynes peace heals 20 to 50 points of health on use.
Mastery of Force: Unrelenting force and Cyclone do bleed damage on hit.
Multi Front Attack: Marked for death also drains Stamina and Magicka
Oblivionsfrost: Frost breath does 20% more damage and causes lingering frost damage.
One with the Storm: Storm call lasts twice as long. And your destruction spells are 25% more powerful while it is active.
Run Through Time: You move 50% faster while the rest of the world moves 50% slower while slow time is active.
Sluggish reflexes: Disarm works on higher level enemies and you do 10% more damage to unarmed opponents.
Statues made to last: Ice Form lasts 40% longer
Universal Fear: Dismay works against undead, daedra, and automatons and higher level enemies.

How to get perks Points for the skill tree:
There's a spell tomb called "Hidden Truths" you'll find at the end of "Black Book: The Hidden Twilight" (The one in Tel Mithryn). It unlocks a spell that lets you convert dragon souls into perk points.

I have never played the dragonborn DLC and never will. Despite playing Skyrim for 10+ years and paying for it with my own money. What the hell is a Black Book?

Compatibility:
Mods that modify shout duration or the power of all shouts should be compatible out of the gate. Mods that modify individual shouts may or may not be incompatible depending on which shout they modify and how they do it.

Installing mid game:
Installing mid game should be fine so long as you haven't started any of the Black Book quests yet.
