You've completed a few bounties, cleared out some Draugr tombs, even gone into the depths of Dwemer ruins. Being the loot goblin that you are, your inventory is now full of questionable armor and weapons.

Now's the time to go to some hapless merchant, unload all that junk and walk away with a tidy sum!

What This Mod Does

All that looting and selling breaks the economy, and takes the challenge out of the game. Other mods attempt to fix this by restricting your carry weight, or removing items from dungeons.

This mod takes a different approach. It lets you indulge in your loot goblin tendencies, but, instead, gives merchants some standards. They will use their improved judgement to decide whether to buy your items.

Even if merchants don't buy some of your items, you will still be able to:

  • Equip and use the items yourself.
  • Give the items to your followers.
  • Use the items to practice your Smithing and Enchanting skills.

Installer Options

You have two options for each of the items below. You can choose one or both of these modifications:

  • Cannot sell items to vendors and/or
  • Reduce item prices to 50% (may become zero for low-priced items if you have low Speech)

Choose the items you want to restrict using the FOMOD options below:

Draugr Items

Clearly, you've been out plundering the sacred tombs of the ancestors. And you've taken these old weapons from their hands! Why, they still stink of rot and decay. You won't find any buyers for those Draugr weapons.

If you put in the hard work to renew these Ancient Nord items in the SkyForge, you'll find many buyers for those renewed Nord Hero weapons.

Falmer Items

Are those armors and weapons really made of insect parts?! And they still smell of mildew and fungus from the deep underground. Most vendors wouldn't know what to make of these strange items.

Bandit and Forsworn Items (separate options)

All right now, you've brought in this heap of heavily used, barely repaired, sweaty armor from some outlaw camp. What do you expect anyone to do with this junk? No one's going to buy it or wear it, that's for sure.

Notes

  • The "Merchant" perk (or equivalent) will re-enable the selling of these items. This will be late-game, so you'll have moved on to higher tiers of armors and weapons by then.
  • Specialized magic vendors (like court wizards) will still buy magical staves, even if general stores don't. They understand the inherent value of the enchantment, even if the source is questionable. This is an intentional decision, so that you are not stuck with expensive items in your inventory.

Future Enhancements / Known Issues

  • Allow enchanted items to be sold to specialized vendors.
  • Prevent arrows from being sold to blacksmiths.
