What the mod does:
Noodles adds noodles to Skyrim, which you can cook at any cooking pot
Optional Survival Mode version available
What types of noodles?
So far, the mods adds 7 new noodle dishes, but I plan to add more in the future
Currently available:
- Carrot Chow Mein: Delicious stir-fried noodles served with various types of carrots
- Curry Yakisoba: Curry-flavoured yakisoba (stir-fried noodles) with red pepper, green onion, carrots and bean sprouts
- Girandole: Spirally Italian pasta with tomato sauce and onions
- Noodles: Plain old ramen-style noodles, ideal for a second helping (kaedama)
- Soba: Buckwheat noodles, also ideal for a second helping
- Chicken Tempura: Ramen-style noodles served with slices of deep-fried chiken
- Zaru Soba: Cold noodles served in soy and dashi sauce
Planned for next updates:
- Penne all'arrabbiata: spicy Italian pasta
- Spaghetti: do you really need me to describe what spaghetti are?
- Kesme: Turkic egg noodles
- Rice noodles: most likely Vietnamese, but also Korean tteokbokki
- Mie goreng: I really love stir-fried noodles if you hadn't guessed already
FAQ:
Why not make the additional noodles right now?
Every texture in this mod comes from noodles I cooked myself. In theory, yes, I could just browse the internet and find professionally made noodles that would make this mod look much better... but I'm going for something that looks like home cooking, which takes time (it's also a perfect excuse for me to eat plenty of delicious noodles)
Excuse me, but, aren't Zaru Soba supposed to be served separately from the dipping sauce (tsuyu)?
Yes, but a recipe can only result in a single item in Skyrim's cooking system and, quite frankly, I really like the way it looks. Know that I had to sacrifice about a good third of my soba to take this picture, they were soggy and too salty because they had been dipped for way too long. I suffered for this!
Why does the chicken tempura look so weird and unappealing?
Skyrim's bowl model is to blame. And my poor texturing skills. And my laziness when it comes to 3D modelling. The flat image and low resolution make it hard to distinguish the tempura slices from the rest of the bowl's content. Maybe I'll make a custom mesh some day.
...Carrot Chow Mein? Is that actually a thing?
Maybe? Probably? Originally the plan was to have regular chow mein, but I had the very bad idea to make egg fu yang with it, which was actually very tasty in real life... but looked horrible and muddy as a texture. I ended up using pictures of another one of my attempts at chow mein, when I had mostly carrots and green onions left.
Wait, so you're telling me you were okay with the chicken tempura looking bad, but not the chow mein?
Yes. Stir-fried noodles deserve better.
