I get that a lot of you take issue with this mods concept, thinking it too politically correct, liberal, etc. For those of you who are fine playing vanilla Stormcloaks, good for you! This mod is for the rest of us.
If you can't say something nice, please move on. No one is making you come here or download it.
Just so everyone knows this mod is in update mode! Updating dialogue to be more realistic, and updating a few scripts, etc. Hope to have the update out within the month! I just updated Dark Brotherhood for Good Guys. This mod is next on the list. Imperials for Good Guys is also launching soon!
how can you make a good guy mod for a faction that is already the good guys ? fighting for liberation of their own land from oppresive empire ???? thats like saying the americans are bad guys cuz they rebeled agaist the british empire or that resistance and partizan groups were the bad guys when they were rebeling agaist germans in ww2...
This game was written to have moral gray areas on both sides, but it also does a poor job of giving us any reason to side with the empire, so the Stormcloaks are the closest thing there are to good guys (in my opinion), but that doesn't make them morally perfect either. Clearly Ulfric is an egotistical blowhard who is taking advantage of the situation to grab power, and the Stormcloaks are a bit xenophobic.
Also, I think you're misinterpreting and oversimplifying the situation. This is a holy war, not a war of liberation. The nords were happy to live under the empire before Talos worship was outlawed. In a way it's the Stormcloaks that are upholding imperial values by continuing to worship a deified former emperor.
Regardless of the morality, I think I should have a say. "I'm the dragonborn. Either be nice to the dunmer or I'll challenge you for the crown." Who cares about the long term consequences? Take it up with two different dragons backing me up.
Maybe you don't know anything about the elder scroll series if you think the stormcloaks are that bad. Bro everybody in the elder scrolls series is racist, compared to everyone else the stormcloaks are pretty tame. Like the dark elves in Morrowind were way way worse.
I'm so very glad this mod's getting updated! I do hope Vortex's plugin section doesn't say "This plugin was made for an older version of Skyrim and may not be compatible with Skyrim Special Edition" ! been wanting it on PC but couldn't cuz of the aforementioned problem! am waiting and willing lol
Imperials lost a war, so they don't have much of a choice and if you are an enemy of the Thalmor you join them. Thalmor are very interested in the Civil War, and are on Ulfric side. In fact a victory from the Stormcloaks is desirable since it will make the North an easy prey. Is very hard to find a reason to join the Stormcloaks in Vanilla if you are interested in the future of the Nords or other human races.
I completed the quest but it still in the quest menu does that mean I didn't finish it I don't understand also it didn't tell me to convince galmar i didn't join them yet can you tell how to fix it
This mod and Thieves guild have 3 conflicting files. I did a screencap of the Vortex message, but I don't have a means of linking to an image,. If you want I'll get them to you as a message attachment, just let me know. I'm going to go with Thieves Guild before as it's the older mod.
Thanks for these mods, I really hate having to be a raging asshole to play an otherwise fun game.
I'm 100% convinced that if the writers didn't shoehorn that stupid scene with Rolff at the start of Windhelm, the Stormcloaks wouldn't be as nearly as unpopular with the players. Most people just write the Stormcloaks off as "ebil raycysts" after that encounter, sadly.
Honestly, if you actually put aside your emotions and look at the war from a pragmatic perspective, it's pretty dang hard to justify the Imperials (Thalmors) presence.
Not really, the Imperials are >>tolerating<< the Thalmor for plausible reasons, the stormcloacks want to destroy the empire that has always protected Skyrim in a civil war out of pure pride, the stormcloacks do this even though it is exactly what the Thalmor want. The truth is that the Stormcloacks are proud and childish, while the Imperials are on a tightrope trying to maintain control over things. From my perspective Ulfric instigated this war to become High King of Skyrim. And of course, all this apart from the fact that the Imperials have diversity in the races in their army (not racist), while the stormcloacks are only Nordic (racist).
Also, if you play any race except a nord, they refer to your character as a "foreigner" and "unblooded". Not exactly the most inviting thing to say to the person who (essentially) single-handedly wins the war for you. Bethesda knew exactly what vibe they wanted to convey when they wrote the Stormcloaks' dialogue.
I have always played as a Nord and I also always get called unblooded. I hate that and never could understand why this game didn't recognized me as aNord.
I think the idea of the mod is incredible, but at the same time it doesn't work for me, after all I can't see the Stormcloacks as "good guys". But I'll add it to my list because I like it when the game gives you more than one choice to follow
