I get that a lot of you take issue with this mods concept, thinking it too politically correct, liberal, etc. For those of you who are fine playing vanilla Stormcloaks, good for you! This mod is for the rest of us.
If you can't say something nice, please move on. No one is making you come here or download it.
It's been a while, so I'm not sure if you will reply or not. I, for one, love the idea for this mod as the Stormcloaks being narratively framed as morally equal to the Legion has always been off since they are the fantasy equivalent to a racist militia. I just wanna vibe with some Viking rebels and not feel bad about potentially supporting dark elf/other oppression.
However, one of the core features of this mod is the inclusion of more diverse soldiers, and I already have a mod that does that "Diverse Skyrim SSE" by CEMN. How will that work compatibility wise? Will those characters combine? Overwrite? Break? I really don't want to be without that mod, but I love the other content in this mod.
Do you know what is that MO2 error message about ?
"You have one or more plugins that are not form 44. They are:
• Goodstormcloaks.esp (form 43)
Form 43 (or lower) plugins are modules that were made for Skyrim LE (Oldrim) and have not been properly ported to Skyrim Special Edition, which uses form 44 plugins. This usually results in parts of the mod not working correctly.
To be converted, these plugins simply need to be opened and saved with the SSE Creation Kit but their presence can be an indication that a mod was not properly ported to SSE and so can potentially have additional issues."
What will happen if i still try to use it with SSE ? Does someone does ? I'm with the Nolvus pack
No hate of course, its good that you want to make them less racist but... isn't that like half their entire purpose? they don't exist *solely* because of Talos worship being outlawed, they also believe that everyone else is just an invader and that they don't belong in Skyrim. The Stormcloaks are just... inherently racist as part of their whole thing.
I think that the Civil War plot should have been a choice strictly between an ailing, well-past-its-prime Empire and an independent Skyrim rebel movement. That element is there, but it often gets overshadowed by the fact that the Empire is explicitly multi-ethnic and the Stormcloaks are racist and their capital keeps Dunmer in a slum and excludes Argonians and Khajiit.
Personally, I think making the Stormcloaks less racist draws to the fore the more interesting theme the previous games helped develop: that since the Imperial Simulacrum the Third Empire (and the idea of a human Empire in general) experienced a precipitous decline, and the self-determination of formerly Imperial provinces (Hammerfell, High Rock, and potentially Skyrim) becomes a more compelling thought for understanding or endorsing the Stormcloaks.
I mean, if you look for debates on this very topic, one of the first things Empire-defenders (including myself, lol) will mention is how needlessly racist the Stormcloaks are. It really makes the Stormcloaks seem less like they seek self-determination from the Empire, which would be more interesting in my opinion, and more like they seek a Nordic ethnostate, which is a hard sell for people who aren't already racist.
I love the concept and paired with https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/41132 and https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/81554 to keep Balgruuf it's really awesome. The problem I have run into is that it says something about a 43 file when it needs to be a 44? I don't know how to fix this. I usually play with the Stormcloaks just to keep Maven Blackbriar (I try to ruin her life as much as possible) from being jarl. I also found a mod that keeps that from happening too if you play imperial. I didn't like the slavery aspect of Morrowind and I was happy that we had a quest line to end it. I really don't like the racist aspect of Windhelm. The other holds tend to be more tolerant, except for Khajiit which is one of my favorite vanilla races. I love what you are trying to do and wish it were updated.
I just wish we didn't have to overthrow Balgruuf for Stormcloak victory. The first Jarl you meet, and a genuinely Pretty Cool Dude. Plus Irileth helps you kill your first dragon, and this is how you repay her?
Not a criticism of your mod in the slightest, it's just that part of the game makes my teeth grind

Thank you!

Thoughts? Have you tested this scenario?
