Introduction
A performance-friendly Reshade. Overhauls the game visuals, providing a next-gen looks without sacrificing performance, using mainly the following techniques:
- AmbientLight
- Blooming HDR
- Depth of Field
- Ambient Occlusion
- Chromatic Aberration
Installation
- Download and install Reshade with Full Addons. Tick everything during the installation, except the plugins unless you need them.
- Download "2024 Potato Reshade.ini", go into your Skyrim Game Folder, create a subfolder called "reshade-profiles" and put the .ini file there (for example if you are on LoreRim wabbajack modlist, it should look like this "D:\Games\LoreRim\Stock Game\reshade-profile\2024 Potato Reshade.ini").
- Download and install with your mod manager SSE ReShade Helper.
- Take 2 minutes to go through the Reshade tutorial upon launching your game.
- Once you're in-game, open Reshade menu, use the browser on top and select "2024 Potato Reshade.ini"
- Enjoy. You can always turn on and off features you want.
Recommendation
If you have an RTX graphic cards, use with Skyrim Upscaller DLSS to get good performance. Make sure to pick the latest DLSS version.
Use VRAMr with the performance setting to free as much as vram as possible, effectively making the game stutter free while lowering loading times.
Reasons behind this mod
I play on a gaming laptop at 1440p (Ryzen 7 5800H; RTX 3070m), which is far from being a potato in my opinion, but Skyrim optimization being what it is, you need a over-the-top computer to enjoy the visual experience provided by ENB.
However, ENBs tank performance too much. I tried other reshades, but I felt like I could do better. This is my first Reshade and mod for Skyrim.
