The hotkey functionality requires SkyUILib or the popup won't show. You may already have it if you're using converted Oldrim mods since many have it bundled.

In the past (LE) I really only renamed items/equipment that were in my inventory, sorting out personal items from loot, etc. Is there any way to target an item within the inventory screen? Or do I need to throw everything on the ground first?

so can this be used to change name of sward? say one has 2 daedric swards and want to set favorites to them both but forgot to change the names when enchanting them. will Skyui register the names and allow dual weld hot key?

Seriously thank you for this. I tried renaming through creation kit only, I have a problem when editing any modded npc through creation kit, no matter how small of an edit, where the npc gets the black face bug no matter what even just changing the name gives me black face bug. load order makes no difference, exporting face data doesn't work and setting npc weight has no effect on the black face either. So I gave up on changing names, then saw a mod that could do it so I downloaded tested it out worked great until an hour in and boom every one I named no longer had a name or an activate option so had to revert to predownloaded state and uninstall. So this mod was my last hope, tried it for about 3 days now and absolutely no problems. Thank you so much. Endorsed.

If at all possible, I would be very thankful if you can release a version that does not need SkyUI like a spell or something. Thank you very much for your time and effort.

Apologies for the very late reply, it cannot be done since the standard game has no function that enables text input.

So uh... I went to uninstall this since I don’t use it, and I can no longer load Skyrim. Like, at all. Not even a new game. I can’t even run LOOT.

Uninstalling this or any other mod can't kill your game installation as long as it's done properly. Sounds like your mod manager failed that in this case, possibly corrupting your plugins.txt since that's what Loot works with as well.

If you rename a non-unique item (standard iron armor for example) will all items of the same type be renamed? (Would every standard iron armour be called the new name?)

My renamed names go back to the original names every time I exit to desktop and restart after I save and quit. Bug?

The names aren't actually changed, one would need to edit their data in the mod or base files for that, but have an override that's displayed instead.
It's applied on game load using the information stored in your save and applied by Lazy renamer. So if you start a new game (which won't have the name data) or disable this mod (so it can't apply them) the old names will be shown again.

If this isn't the case and the name still reverts there is something else interfering with this mod. Try a re-install, disable mod -> save with it disabled -> (optional and with caution: Use Fallrimtools to remove unattached scripts) -> enable -> load game and see if that helps.

I will be downloading that option! I only want this to rename containers, mostly in crafting areas and the kitchen so everything has it's place. Thank you!!

Please use the main 0.20.0 version instead, it handles both NPCs and objects, can rename a larger amount of targets plus got hotkey functionality making renaming much quicker.
That optional one uses the obsolete 0.10.0 code and has now been moved to "old versions", missed that earlier.

    Thanks for letting me know!!

Didn't know about that mod, being able to rename containers looks pretty handy. Uploaded an optional file with the NPC only filter removed for testing.
