Artisto has done a very nice job tweaking footprint textures with Footprints - Alternative Design mod.
In earlier times shadows were often baked into diffuse textures. Nowadays shaders are able to draw shadows dynamically, especially when using Complex Parallax Addon.
However baked shadows + dynamic shadows create some really dark areas. I noticed this and saw some users mentioning the same. Therefore, I brightened up those textures slightly to become more seamless.
Installation:
Install Footprints - Alternative Design and all its dependencies. I recommend to use also Footprints - Alternative Design - Complex Parallax Addon. Then install this mod over it. It must overwrite the textures from Footprints - Alternative Design.
