About this mod
Skyrim’s roads are perilous, yet carriage prices are cheap. This mod significantly increases carriage and ferry costs of the Carriage and Ferry Travel Overhaul mod, resulting in carriages being mostly only accessible to the rich citizens of Skyrim. Pay steep fees for distant destinations or risk the dangers of the wild on foot!

It always seemed a bit strange to me that a simple carriage driver with nothing but an iron dagger could fend off the bandits, bears, and dragons that roam Skyrim. The increased costs now reflect the true peril of these journeys. Carriage drivers charge a premium because they’ve invested in combat training and are better equipped to face the dangers of the province. With their newfound skills and proper compensation, it's far more believable that they can safely transport you across Skyrim's treacherous landscape.
For even more *immersion*, I recommend pairing this mod with Carriage Guards, which adds armed escorts to your carriages.
Carriage Prices:
- Nearby locations now cost 200 gold. They are safer and quicker to reach, but the increased price reflects the risk and effort still involved in travel. It’s a noticeable cost but not prohibitively expensive.
- Distant major cities now cost 1500 gold. These trips are far and the roads are dangerous, and at this price travel becomes a significant investment. It forces you to weigh the benefits of using a carriage versus potentially risking the journey on foot or horse.
- Distant minor settlements now cost 2000 gold. These are even more remote and potentially more dangerous to reach, and the higher price reflects that.
- Ferries on Lake Ilinata and Lake Honrich now cost 150 gold. Traveling by water should still be relatively affordable, but the price increase acknowledges the risks of sailing in a dangerous world. Traveling to Ilinata’s Deep costs 1200 due to the added danger.
- Traveling along the North Coast/Solstheim costs 1200 gold. Water routes should be less expensive than land routes but still a considerable cost, reflecting the time and effort involved in navigating treacherous waters.
- A trip from Icewater Jetty costs 500 gold. This location is very secluded and is miserably cold. Combined with the constant threat of nearby vampires, this boat ride is going to cost you.
- Klimmek will get you to High Hrothgar for 200 gold. He doesn't charge too much due to all the experience he has with the 7000 steps, and the fact that you will have already killed the frost troll by the time he offers to take you.
- Place CFTO For The Rich anywhere in your load order after the Carriage and Ferry Travel Overhaul. This mod is incompatible with any other mods that change the prices of CFTO carriages and ferries.
- This mod is flagged As ESL
- **You cannot add this mod mid-save unless you are also adding CFTO for the first time!** This is due to the nature of the CFTO mod. Prices are set as soon as you add CFTO and cannot be changed later.
