Not sure what is going on. I am not the most computer savvy person, but just cannot get SKUI to be recognized and work. I have used it for a long time, but my hard drive crashed and I had to reload everything. My old game will not work and neither will a new game. Of course I am getting the famous Error Code 1. I have many YouTube videos on how to correctly install but nothing has changed. When attempting to open any saved game (yes I did a clean save and it worked, but when the mods are activated it shuts down). I get these four different error codes:

    "moreHUD: SKSE is not Detected!"

    "SKUI ERROR CODE 1
The Skyrim Script Extender (SKSE64) is not running.
    SKUI will not work correctly!

"RaceMenu Error(s): You are runnign SKSE Version 0.0.0.0 expected 2.0.7.56 or greater. NiOverride plugin not detected, various features may be unavailable..."

"FNIS PCEA2 stopped with ERROR (s). - FNIS version V0.0.0 older than required. SKSE not started.

Of course all of this worked before the computer crash...and I had no help. Now nothing. Do any of you know of a good resource that will give me a step-by-step way to get this up and running. I am about to just uninstall Skyrim and move on out of frustration.

I solved a problem. You need to do 2 things. First is to download proper version of SKSE64. Then you need to copy from the zip file all files without folder called src, to your Skyrim folder. The second thing you have to do is to make a copy of your skyrim.exe file and skse64_loader to your desktop. Then install skyui and launch the game by using skse64_loader.

Hello, just a minutes before i managed to make it work on my pc, i don´t know if it will work for you, but this it what i did:
In case of having skyrim SE, one must download skse 64 for SE, download the zip file, not the installer, it proved to be more stable for me, then go to the skse folder, copy all the .dlland .exe archives, paste them in the principal skyrim folder (the folder where you have the game and all its content),then return to the skse 64 folder, double clic on data, and copy the folder scripts, return to the skyrim folder,go to the folder Data, and paste there the folder script from SKSE,you must download the SKY UI version for Skyrim SE, that´s all, I don´t have any responsabilities for crashes on your game, but that worked for me, hope it will be usefull for you, saludos que tengas un buen día :).

*Simplified* Go into the Skse64 Folder File, (where you copied and pasted the files into the Skyrim special edition folder, where you access from steam by browsing the games files.) and click on data, copy the script folder file, and paste it into the data folder in Skyrim special edition file.

I get an error message saying skse64 isn't running. But when I check it shows skse64 version 2.0.15. I checked in the system menu and shows skyui version 4. But I downloaded version 5.

Any idea how to fix it?
