Hitting a target with a bow while in sneak mode will trigger a percussive sound. You know at this very moment that your target is almost dead, depending on your perks. After installing the mod Audio Overhaul of Skyrim , this "bonus" sound was way too much louder and hide the realistic sound of the impact. By the way, the bow and arrow sounds in Audio Overhaul are a very good complement for stealth archer.
The sound is always there, but have an attenuation of 100 instead of 7.49. You can edit the level of attenuation with SSEdit (with a value of 17.49, it was quieter enough to not interfere too much).
With this mod, you will rely on your eyes and not on the sound. Much silent, much immersive.
Version with sneak sound but quieter (-17db) available fore those who like to know when a sneak hit is a success. Just ask if you need other volumes.
Some self explanatory videos, pump up the volume: First - original sound, youn only hear this horrid drum sound Second - quieter sound, you can now hear the agony scream of the infortunate victim Third - no sound. You can hear the scream and the impact noise of the arrow.
