In MCM you can enable/disable the mod for player kills only, enable/disable it for only humanoids, and set a min/max time for when the ghosts appear after the kill.

Spawned ghosts now don't hang around forever, and are eventually erased.
When a living creature dies, there's a small chance (default: 10%, customizable in MCM) that's its ghost appears over its dead body, and starts attacking whomever has killed it. This only includes "living" enemies so undead, daedra and dwemer animunculi do not count. The ghost can be killed, but it cannot be looted. It's just an excuse to have more encounters.
Compatibility Everything. No changes to any vanilla record.
