About this mod

A mod that adds the Estate from the first Darkest Dungeon game. Built as an approximation of what the Estate, the Hamlet, the dungeons and characters would look like as denizens of Tamriel, while trying to be mostly lore-friendly to the world of the Elder Scrolls. All created using vanilla Skyrim assets.

Description

Nestled on the border between Skyrim, Cyrodiil and Hammerfell, south of Falkreath, lies a remote mountain town. Once a prosperous hub of trade and decency, a radiant example of the empires far reaching might, it has since descended into ruin. With the end of the Septim dynasty and the ongoing hostilities with the Aldmeri Dominion the Empire in its enfeebled state decided to withdraw from the region, consolidating their fading strenght on the more worthwhile effourts. In their absence it became a den of crime and degeneracy, prospectors of illegal acts and soon individuals of unsavory intent all found their way to the remote mountain Hamlet. And for years the stories surrounding the region would be spun by carriage drivers, sailors and travelers telling folks to stay away. Rumors of Lycanthropes and beasts running amok, of strange cults performing horrid rituals and the unsettling accounts surrounding the Estates Lord, living within the old Manor resting within the Mountains shadow. The only ones who willingly choose to go there nowadays are those who are either mad or desperate. The people of the Hamlet have been left to fend for themselfs and with the death of the Estates Lord and the ever growing sense of dread the towns fate appears to be sealed. Their fortunes now lie within the broken, battered souls willing to risk their lives to protect the town and the rumored arrival of the Heir to the Estate looking to return home and claim their birthright.

Features

- Explorable Estate

- Explorable Hamlet (includes shops and services)

- 18 unique followers (can be found in multiple locations within the Hamlet)

- 4 dungeons and a couple of smaller areas to find and explore

Difficulty

In-line with the known difficulty of the Darkest Dungeon games the encounters of the mod have been adjusted to be suitably difficult.

It is HIGHLY recommended to bring a follower with you whenever you go exploring.

It is recommended to always visit the provisioner's shop at the edge of town before leaving the Hamlet.

It is recommended to start the mod after level 10 (enemies will scale from level 10 to level 80).

In regards to the titular Darkest Dungeon the recommended level is 30 and above.

Note that the Boss enemies will always start at level 30 so upon finding their location it is recommended to regroup or potentially return to the Hamlet to restock on supplies.

The mod was designed and tested on the vanilla adept difficulty (though with so many ways to play its difficult to find a perfect difficulty for all so always feel free to experiment with diffirent difficulties if you find them more suitable for your playstyle).

Compatibility

The mod was made using only vanilla Skyrim assets so it should be compatible with everything that doesn't alter the vanilla game too much.

From testing it works fine will all the other mods i had installed so it shouldn't be an issue.

For a true Darkest Dungeon experience you could even consider getting mods that make dungeons darker so that torches are a much bigger necessity or mods that allow more followers so that you could build parties of 4 like in the games.

Installation

Extract the contents of the download file into the Data folder in your Skyrim directory.

To uninstall just remove the contents from the Data folder.

Cutting Room Floor

The Butcher's Circus was cut as i couldn't find way to meaningfully integrated into the world.

The Color of Madness was downscaled to being only constricted to the Well and a couple of easter eggs.

The Crimson Court was simply too big in scale to be included and the main focus was on recreating the vanilla games world (will potentially make an update in the future for the Crimson Court).

Disclaimer

While not the first time i have dabbled in the usage of the creation kit this is the first time that i've published a mod. So do forgive me if it happens to be a little rough around the edges which it no doubt will be, also english is not my first language so forgive if there are also some spelling errors too. And while i can't guarantee if there will be any updates on this mod i would still like too hear your general opinions on the mod and why and how it could be improved.

This project took months to complete and i hope you enjoy this love-letter to the Red Hooks roguelike dungeon crawler.
