A mod to make all vanilla voiced NPCs have nightmares while they're asleep. Every vanilla voice type is covered with their own unique nightmare sound, with varying length, intensity and volume. NPCs added by other mods will automatically work if they use a vanilla voice type.

Whenever an NPC is asleep, they will have a chance to have a bad dream and cry out in their sleep, with other NPCs nearby reacting. Most times the other NPC will just say "shh!" or "What's all the commotion?" but certain voice types have extra dialogue. Sometimes the NPC having the nightmare might "shh!" themselves.

The dreams have a random (configurable) chance of triggering every 12 hours in-game. The default chance is 50%, so every 12 hours, there will be a 50% chance of hearing a nightmare. It's meant to be fairly rare so you won't be hearing them all the time.

You can alter the random chance by opening up the console and typing set jb1dreams to x - where x is the number you want. For example if you want 25% chance type set jb1dreams to 25 - the game will save this so you only need to do it once. If you want to see what the current percentage is type help jb1dreams in the console.

Ever wondered why the NPCs in Dawnstar say they're having nightmares every night, but never do? Well now they do. Until you've completed the quest 'Waking Nightmare', NPCs in Dawnstar will get double the chance to have a nightmare, with more specific reactions from other NPCs.

Once you complete that quest, Dawnstar residents will get the same chance of nightmares as all other locations.

Dawnstar nightmares before you complete Waking Nightmare are set to repeat more often with no random chance.

I've released an alternate version that covers Dawnstar only.

All the nightmare sounds have been generated using ElevenLabs SFX from prompts tool. No voice cloning of original voices has been used. All dialogue lines are made using existing voice files from the game.

The mod is flagged as ESL so it won't take up a slot in your load order and is a very lightweight mod.

The mod was made with the older creation kit so is compatible with all versions of Skyrim SE/AE.

There's a vanilla bug with new dialogue sometimes not firing after installing a mod. If you don't hear any dialogue, just make a save and load it which should fix this if you encounter it.

Install like any other mod using your favourite mod manager. It is safe to install mid-game.

It should be compatible with pretty much anything.
