open the console and do it by hand i don't support that right now and don't have any particular plans to in the future, though at some point it's possible i make the number of major or minor skills arbitrary to avoid comments like this
Thank you for your reply. Using the console is certainly feasible. The reason why I asked this is mainly because I frequently start new games. Another mod(Choose Your Starting Skills) allows users to set the number of major or minor skills arbitrarily. However, the operation of that mod is too cumbersome and it cannot save presets. I really like the preset-saving feature of your mod. If you could break the 1+7 limitation, I believe your mod would be more perfect and better suited to the needs of more people.
Hey, so I made a default male Nord, and on my 3rd attempt, I get the menu to select a class. That's only one out of 4 times that the menu actually came up - I suspect there is too much going on with other mods loading.
Could I humbly suggest adding a spell or power, or a book to read that activates the mod after all the other startup scripts have calmed down? I believe other mods use similar methods.
As for the menu itself: I select Combat Skills and the only option presented is Warrior. I select Stealth Skills and there are no options presented. I select Magic Skills and there seems to be pretty much the full complement of options.
I'm using Arthmoor's Alternate Start LAL. Can confirm I have all the requirements, including Pap Message Box NG installed correctly in MO2. Game version 1.6.1170.
if you have it partially working the way you describe, that is probably just too much script stress at startup. i'll look into a way to trigger the effect manually for you and the PROTEUS guy above. it should be pretty straightforward as long as i didn't bake in the run exactly once exactly when i expect assumption somewhere.
Yeah this was the conclusion I was leaning towards as well. A manual startup would make sense, as suggested, either through a power, spell or skill diary maybe.
I'm using PROTEUS so I switch characters every once in a while. When doing so my skills reset and all's fine. However, this script runs once (as it should) so I have to resort to using the console and adjusting all skills manually. A bit of a hassle.
Is there a way for me to force this script to run again?
Bookmarking this to come back later when I can actually play, but I wanted to say thank you in advance because this is a great idea, and looks like what I've been wanting!
Yeah, I didn't really like races as classes the way vanilla game does it, but it seemed like the mods that tried to change that kept making classes way too restrictive. I just want to decide where we start and stick with Skyrim's philosophy of what you do is who you are.
I have been testing with the Paradigm start mod, and I have found this doesn't seem to "start" after character creation. I think both are firing right after that instance.
Edit: Nevermind. It was user error, I was missing one of the pre-requisant mods. So my bad.
This is definitely something I've been looking for. Cause the alternative, is tweaking the benefits of CCABR (Classic Classes and Birthsigns Reimagined). Which is not something I really want to tackle.
