Changelogs
Version 1.1
Changed "a dossier that states" back to "a dossier that implies", since the nature of the betrayal is ambiguous.
Version 1.0
Ehlhiel is referred to as 'the asset' rather than 'the Thalmor agent', and his actual allegiances are listed.
Zaharia and Ehlhiel are referred to as Crimson Dirks rather than bandits.
"A dossier that implies" becomes "a dossier that states", since it's more accurate.
The quest 'Double-Edged' from the 'Alternative Armors - Leather' Creation finds the player stumbling upon a revenge plot involving two former members of the disbanded Crimson Dirks. The intended victim of the plot, Ehlhiel, abandoned the Crimson Dirks and became an asset for various authorities, including the Imperial City guard, the East Empire Company, and Skyrim's guard captains. The journal entries for the quest do not accurately reflect this, however, instead suggesting that Ehlhiel became an asset for the Thalmor. This mod edits all of the journal entries for the quest, making it so that Ehlhiel is referred to as 'the asset' rather than 'the Thalmor agent', and Zaharia and Ehlhiel are referred to as Crimson Dirks rather than generic bandits.
The same quest stages are used regardless of if you choose to help Zaharia or Ehlhiel, so I couldn't specify which of the two attacks the player. Some extra detail is added, but the grammar and sentence structures largely remain unchanged. The mod is ESL flagged and edits six records; it seems like only four of them are actually used in-game, but the other two were edited just to make sure. Won't be compatible with anything that directly edits the Double-Edged quest (ccBGSSSE053_Quest), but patching would be incredibly easy.
(The mod is tagged as a Bug Fix since the references to the Thalmor were undoubtedly made in error - there is no other reference to the Thalmor during the quest, and the guard dossier on Ehlhiel directly states the various entities that he acted as an asset for. UESP speculates that this is likely because the quest originally involved the Thalmor before it was changed to the Crimson Dirks, but the journal logs were neglected. Some of the edits may arguably take it beyond a bug fix, but the language isn't changed too dramatically.)
