Simple Training Overhaul

Mod Description

Training sessions no longer increases a skill base level, but fortifies it instead.

Features

This plugin changes how training sessions affect your skills by fortifying their level instead of increasing their base level. It also adapts the training menu and how the training cost formula is calculated to reflect this modification.

You might be wondering what's the difference between a skill base and a fortified (or bonus) level? In short terms, the base level is the one that normally gets capped at 100, and the one that you use to unlock perks, while the fortified level (displayed in green) only increases that skill effectiveness and has no caps involved.

And as I mentioned before, having this plugin on will change the training menu in some aspects that would make more sense, such as:

The base skill level is still being displayed, but right next to it, in between parentheses, the fortified skill level will be displayed as well.¹

The character experience meter is no longer being displayed, since increases to fortified levels do not grant any character level experience, rendering the meter somewhat useless.

The training cost formula² and the NPC trainer teaching level were also tweaked to use the fortified levels instead of the base skill level¹, which means you could have a base skill level of 100 and still be able to train it until it reaches that trainer's maximum teaching level (which is 90 by default).

¹ Only levels obtained through training are taken into account, and any increase or decrease it might suffer will be ignored.
² The formula remains the same as the vanilla game, but now the gold cost will scale with your fortified levels¹ rather than your base skill level.

Compatibility

Using this plugin alongside Smart Training is highly recommended.

No SWF files were changed so it should be compatible with UI mods.

This plugin should be compatible with every Skyrim Special Edition version.

Installation / Uninstallation safe.
