Could and how would I add a custom mod shield mesh to this myself? I would like to have Stormcloak Hero Armory's and Imperial Dragonknight's shields displayed.
Is this compatible with Ecotone dual sheath? https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/17763. The shields are replaced, but they disappear when my character or the guards put them on their back. Vanilla guard shields also displayed this problem for me. Any ideas?
From looking at their files and so forth, it appears that they have to create alt meshes for each mod it supports. Maybe has something to do with the custom skeleton requirements?
I bet it's referencing a different mesh than what Ennead uses, which doesn't find the correct texture paths as an after-effect. That said, I don't know the actual reason as I don't know how Ecotone works or how the author built their mod. That's my best guess, but I imagine from the author listing so many custom compatibility patches on their modpage, they'd have to patch in support for Ennead Shields.
Something that would probably work would be to take the textures from Ennead and only use them, deleting the mesh and esp included such that it's reduced to a simple texture replacer. That might fix your problem with no changes necessary on the Ecotone end of things, but you would lose shield crafting capabilities. So if that loss of function is worth it to you, I bet that would solve it. Lemme know if anything works!
If you want to save a plugin slot, just don't enable the ESP in your mod manager. The great thing is this mod works perfectly fine as a texture replacer for the vanilla guard shields without it.
