This is a great mod, but still have some space for improvement. Firstly, you may make it not available initially and requires learning to be enabled, this makes it immersive for some players who cares about immersion. Secondly, if will be nice if you can integrate this mod with dodge mods, that allows used to dodge with magical blink.

      Thanks for the compliment.

Tying this ability to learning a skill/ability is mechanically easy. The hard part is being creative in an immersive way. I'll look into it.

Would you mind explaining in more detail how you envision integrating this mod with a dodge mod?

The most straight forward way to make it immersive is just add a spell book and make the blink ability usable only if the pc learnt the spell.
There are several popular dodge mods, like ultimate dodge, or TK dodge, the most popluar one, or else. It probably required quite much explorations and studies about their machanics if you want to integrate magical blink with them.

This was exactly the mod I've been looking for years to finally play as Ciri in Skyrim. Just a small suggestion, would it be possible to add an option to remove the twirling animation though?
    Amazing mod !

      I'm glad you like it!

I'll consider adding the option. For now, you can either replace the mt_jumpfall.hkx file provided with this mod with another of your choosing or disable the Magical Blink submod in OAR, which will cause the blink to use your default falling animation instead.

Time to reinstall Skyrim... This is looks like absolute perfection. I was disappointed the only other blink mod that has an aiming indicator isn't compatible with AE. Then this comes out, and has everything that mod had, and more! Also really looking forward to the slow time feature.

Hi! I'm back a mere 8 months later. I did not have any issues!
I was wondering, however if you had been able to implement a spell version of this mod? I noticed some threads asking about it. I would absolutely go into the Creation Kit and create a new spell with this effect, but I fear it's not that simple, given the hotkeys and scripting. If there is no spell version of this mod, do the side mouse buttons now work for hotkeys as it now longer relies on dTry's Key Utils?

      Thank you!

I never implemented a spell version because that limits the ability to trigger the effect while in the air.

I use MCM Helper now for its hotkey function that allows for sending Papyrus events directly to a script. I'm afraid it still suffers the same problem as dTry in that mouse keys are not always reliable. That's why I use my mouse driver to assign one of the side buttons to a keyboard key.

Hmmm...in my jump attack mod that works with Magical Jumping I was able to allow for the use of any desired mouse key to cast spells in the air. Maybe I can adapt ideas from that mod into this mod. I'll experiment when I have time with using the same type of hotkey system and maybe creating a spell version that can be cast iwth the hotkeys or through the vanilla spell casting function.

That sounds fantastic! No rush of course! Binding the mouse key to a keyboard key is a good idea as well. I'll try that for sure. Thanks again!

I really enjoyed this mod for the couple of minutes it worked! After setting up the hotkey everything worked fine. Then I went to edit how long it takes to blink, but the slider popup said it was currently set to null? I clicked on it anyways to see what would happen, and my game crashed. Now the MCM doesn't show any options when I open it, and the blink only works sometimes. That last part could be because I set it to a mouse button though, I see reading through these other comments that keyutil has problems with those.

EDIT: Changing the normal MCM settings through the INI seems to work, and after a few tries of closing and re-opening the game, the MCM came back too but still showed null values on the sliders. I was then able to switch my keybind to E, which worked well for a short amount of time and I had a blast teleporting all around this room, but then everything got extremely laggy and my magicka stopped regenerating, until I quit a minute later.

Let's start with a few basic questions just to clear up a few things. 1.) Are you using v 1.2.0? 2.) Are you testing from a new game or a save game? 3.) Were you using a previous version of Magical Blink?

Because you are having anomalous values show up in the MCM, it sounds like your MCM Helper is causing problems. It should default to the values saved in Data\MCM\Config\MJ_Blink\settings.ini unless you have an override stored in Data\MCM\Settings\MJ_Blink.ini. I will look for problems on my end, but I encourage you to verify that MCM Helper is working properly. Double check the version, etc.

FYI, dTry KeyUtils is no longer required for this mod. Version 1.2.0 includes an INI file for it by mistake. I now use MCM Helper to handle hotkeys.  MCM Helper is cleaner to work with, but, unfortunately, it also struggles with mouse keys. If you want to use an extra mouse key for blinking, I recommend using your mouse's driver software to map your mouse button to an unused keyboard key.

I was using 1.2.0 in a save game. Never used Magical Blink before. MCM Helper is up to date and has been working fine up to this point. If KeyUtils is no longer a hard requirement, you should update the note for it in the Requirements tab of the description. I can try it again without KeyUtils. It is possible that caused an issue, as it seems a little sus itself.

EDIT: Reinstalled everything except for KeyUtils. Still encountering magicka regen issue after one successful blink. I am also unable to jump after this blink, and the teleport marker appears at my feet when I press the blink button again. Releasing it does not teleport me anywhere.

I checked the Nexus page. It has all the correct requirements. I just deleted the ones that are no longer necessary.

I can't really understand where your problem with magicka is coming from. My mod simply checks if you have enough magicka before allowing a blink teleport to occur. If you have enough magicka, my mod damages magicka for the set amount. That should not prevent magicka regeneration.

If you get stuck and can't jump, it's because some variable in your character's behavior graph is stuck in an unexpected state. You can usually fix that easily by equipping/unequipping or drawing/sheathing a weapon. It shouldn't happen except in rare circumstances.

If you are getting extreme lag, it's possible your Papyrus system is overloaded. You may consider using Papyrus Tweaks and trying some of the tips I recommend on this mod's description page.

Wait! I just reread your message. You need to be testing on a new game, not a save. I can't help unless you're starting from a clean slate since there are so many things that can go wrong while playing Skyrim generally let alone with modding.

Thank you for your quick responses despite my own delays! Lol. I've started a new save and I am experiencing the same problems. I believe I have found the root of them though. The issues (magicka regen pausing permanently, blink indicator staying at my feet, inability to jump) only begin if I try blinking when I don't have enough magicka to blink.

After turning the blink cost to zero, I was able to blink many many times without hiccup. I've been doing nothing but blinking for the past half hour. You've created a very fun mod!

EDIT: Strangely, after that first time having these problems, I have not had anymore issues with lag, even after triggering the bug. It is possible that part was just some skyrim jank.
EDIT 2: I've found another bug. Setting "Time to Blink" to 0 actually seems to cause the longest blink ever. I'm stuck sliding towards the spot I chose.

I'm glad it's working for you! And thanks for letting me know about the Magicka problem. I can definitely look into that and fix any oversight on my part. Maybe I forgot to reset a variable if the Magicka check fails.

I will update the slider to not allow such an extreme.

Don't forget to try backstabbing an enemy by hitting them with the blink spell.

EDIT: I found it! There was one control variable that didn't get reset in case the magicka check fails. Thanks for helping me test!

Love the concept, but can't seem to get it to work, on a fresh save or existing one. I tried the method mentioned to the previous poster, even tried different hotkeys in case it was an issue with the hotkey I was using, but nothing. The same hotkey would work for other things (such as the boost in Magical Jumping - that one is working and is great fun BTW) but none will get Blink to work. Also tried with and without a weapon out or equipped. I take it the specific weapon in the video is just cosmetic.

I'm also pretty sure it's not an issue of the visual not showing up because it doesn't seem to be doing anything, no matter where I point or how long I hold the key. And it is set to keyboard and mouse in MCM as far as I can tell, which is what I'm using. All I can guess at is some kind of incompatibility, as I do have a lot of other mods. Was hoping by writing out the issue, I might get an idea as to how to fix it rubber ducking style, but that's not working lol. Anyway, keep at it, very creative and the kind of movement control I love to see in video games. Hopefully I'll be able to experience it in this one someday.

Sorry you are having trouble. Which hotkey are you using? Because I am using MCM Helper to catch key presses and send events, there can be problems with mouse keys. I recommend using a keyboard key or a gamepad key. I have had success using my mouse driver software to assign a mouse key to an unused keyboard key.

When you press the assigned hotkey, do you see any result in the game? For instance, does the slow time effect trigger?

Please make sure that you have set all magicka requirements to zero while testing.

You are correct that there are no required weapons, or equipment.

It's possible your game version is incompatible with MCM Helper, which I use for hotkey support.

EDIT: If you are using an older game version, you may need this.

Hi, thanks for your time. If I remember right, I've so far tried C, F, and 2. I also changed some things around in default game keybinds to make sure what I was setting was free. C and F were both able to trigger Magical Jump's Super Jump, but did nothing noticeable with Magical Blink. No slow time effect that I can tell. I had magicka set to 0 for most attempts. Changed it to 8 at some point figuring maybe there was a bug with 0, cross that off, but no discernible difference either way. Game version is 1.6.117.0, which from what I could find, should be Anniversary edition.

After some further digging, I was looking into MCM Helper and where it logs, since you mentioned that. Log file shows this:

      main.cpp(83): [info] MCMHelper v1-5-0-0
      SettingStore.cpp(7): [info] ModSettingStore initializing.
SettingStore.cpp(337): [info] Number of mod setting files: 3
SettingStore.cpp(34): [info] Registered 385 mod settings in 55 ms.
KeybindManager.cpp(49): [info] Loaded keybind registrations in 5 ms.
      RegisterFuncs.cpp(10): [info] Registered Papyrus functions
      ConfigStore.cpp(13): [info] ModConfigStore initializing.
Interfaces.cpp(268): [error] Failed to dispatch message to MergeMapper
ConfigStore.cpp(85): [info] Registered 5 mod configs in 56 ms.
ScriptObject.cpp(29): [warning] Script MJ_Blink_BlinkController is not attached to form. MJ_Blink.esp|810

And then the last line is repeated a bunch. I tested further in-game, refreshing the log file, and it adds two instances of that warning to the line each time I use the key. So I believe that would suggest the keybind itself is firing Blink, but something is off with what happens next. I have no idea how to interpret the warning myself though. The only thing I can think of generically that could be off on my end is if something in the mod depends on the assumption of a normal C drive install; most mods it doesn't matter that I have Skyrim+Vortex+mods on another drive, but occasionally I need to set a file path manually and given C drive in documents is apparently where MCM Helper logs, I figured I'd mention it just in case it could be a factor here.

      Well, there's your problem!

I see that I screwed up and didn't include the pex file with the latest upload. I think I left it in a folder after scrubbing metadata.

That's easy to fix. I'll upload a new file immediately.

    hello
I've been using this mode for a really long time.
However, a problem arose with the 4.x update.

    https://imgur.com/Z85S4cw
    https://imgur.com/yQX8gwb

I've been using this mode for a long time, so I never thought it would be a problem.
While checking my mod list one by one to solve this problem, I found that if I disable either this mode or "Smooth Random Jump Animation", this problem does not occur.
This problem did not occur before the 4.x update.
I don't know much about modding, but it seems like there may be a conflict between something in "Smooth Random Jump Animation Rework" and something in this mod's updates.

Ok. Well imgur is apparently dead here. Try this: 1) Use Nexusmods to create a new mod called "scratchpad" or something like that (don't publish the mod!). 2.) Upload your images to the mod's media page. 3.) Click on the images and copy their URLs. 4.) Come back here and make a new comment. 5.) In the comment, use the "insert an image" option. 6.) Copy the URL in the field and hit Save. 7.) Repeat steps 5 and 6 for all your images.

That website works! It looks like your gravity settings are stuck at 0.0. Try resetting gravity to 1.35 through the Blink MCM. If that doesn't work, try resetting the mod with the "reset the player" option on the Blink MCM's Troubleshooting page.

It's also possible that gravity cannot be reset because you updated mid-save. It's usually best to start a new game when updating your mods. If you don't want to restart, you can always try to clean your save with Resaver. I have included a clean save procedure on this mod's description page. You'll want to clean out all unattached instances and undefined elements. You will also want to search for "MJ_Blink" and remove any leftover remants. You will also want to search for the scripts related to this mod by searching for "MJ_". After that you can install the updated version of this mod.

Did you install the Settings Manager? It is the second file in the download section. I created that to help manage gravity settings when multiple mods do so.

Are you using any other mods that change gravity? For example, are you using Magical Jumping?

Yes, of course Settings Manager is installed.
Magical Jumping is not used. I'm not sure about other mods that change gravity.
What I can confirm is that this did not happen before the 1.2 update, and the 1.2 update is the only change in my mod list.

I understand. I'll look at the code to see if there is a scenario where the gravity may get set incorrectly.

In the meantime, please try one thing. Open the game console by pressing tilde (~) or whatever key it is depending on your keyboard language. Then type in without quotes: "help MJ_Blink_MCM_Gravity". It should tell you the current value of the variable. There's a chance the gravity variable is not being set properly in your game.

Try this simple fix: 1) set your hotkey; 2) save and close the game; 3) relaunch the game and load your save; 4) try again.

Also, the first time you use the mod, even after loading, there is a chance the indicator might not show up immediately because of how the blink indicator's collision boxes are loaded. Just try to blink twice.

Still not working. I found something weird. In MCM, I cannot disable "keyboard+mouse hotkeys" and cannot enable "gamepad hotkeys", clicking at them does nothing.

The MCM detects if you are using m+k or gamepad. If you use an auto switcher, that will confuse the MCM. When setting hotkeys, make sure to enter the menu using the same input device as you intend to play with.
