Overview:
This mod is an addon for Spell Research that allows the player to study a thesis to determine whether or not they are missing spells related to it.

If the thesis has no use to you anymore, or you just have too many theses and need the paper back, it also allows you the chance to recycle them back into parchment.

To use the mod, make sure all of your Spell Research imports are finished, have a Research Journal with you, and then simply use a Thesis from your inventory. You will be able to choose which action to take. Studying a Thesis will pass half the time it would take to write the thesis, and will tell you if there is at least one spell that thesis can create that you do not yet have. Spells are only checked if they are the same rank as the thesis, so if there are missing spells at a lower rank, they will not be accounted for when studying a higher rank thesis.

Recycling a thesis will attempt to recover the rolls of paper that went into its creation, always destroying the thesis in the process. However, the more complex a thesis is, the harder it is to remove all of the text without damaging the material itself. Success chance is based on your skills in Enchanting for handling magical artifacts, Alteration for the transmutation of material, and to a lesser extent, Alchemy for finding solutions to safely dissolve ink and destroy pigment.

Future plans:
Currently, you do not have a chance to fail at studying the thesis, but future plans include adding an MCM option which would allow you to set a
failure chance above 0. Furthermore, I think expanding the flavor text for recycling would be fun for immersion, indicating which skill was most instrumental in your recovery process. An MCM option for modifying the influence of each skill or removing the failure chance entirely are also being investigated.

Compatibility:
This mod does not modify any existing forms from Spell Research or base game, it only adds its own forms, or reads from those already provided by Spell Research itself. Thus, it shouldn't overwrite or be incompatible with anything. However, it does reference the actor values for Enchanting, Alteration, and Alchemy, so if you have any total conversion mods that remove or modify those skills, then this might not function as expected. If you have a mod which adds functionality to OnObjectEquipped for theses, it might not play nicely, but I haven't yet found any mods which do that other than this one.
