The Breathing Abyss
Introduction:
  • The Breathing Abyss is a fairly long quest mod written by both me and BigMacHornet. It revolves around a mysterious entity who lives in an underwater cavern. Your goal is to uncover what the thing is, why it is there, and if there's any way to stop it. This will involve you speaking with a researcher of the paranormal, Manias, also voiced by BigMacHornet. He will require you to gather samples of the creature and its victims in order to learn vital information about the entity. The quest is heavily inspired by Lovecraft and his works, and it will delve into many of his notorious themes. I won't say anymore to prevent any spoilers :))

Features:
  • Fully voiced. The mod features extremely high-quality voice acting done by someone with plenty of experience. The quest has over 120 lines of dialogue, all written to a high standard.

  • Unique questline. The Breathing Abyss is an extremely unique quest; it delves into an incredibly underutilised aspect of Skyrim, the ocean. It makes use of this aspect and turns it into a semi-horror-filled adventure where the player must find a way to stop what they've found. The quest features a young and humorous researcher who will embark on this journey with you together.

  • New locations. The mod features multiple new locations, all made to a high standard of quality, the main location, the underwater cavern features many secrets for the player to find :))

  • Can the mod be downloaded mid-game?
Yes, it's completely fine to install mid-game.
  • Is it ESLed?

  • Is the mod clean?
Yes, I have only edited the necessary cells, there should be no conflicts due to dirty edits.
  • How do I start the quest?
You need to visit the cave and approach the monster, the quest should start from there.

Bugs/Incompatibilities:
  • There's only one bug that I know of at the moment, which is very minor. It just shows the player being at the wrong location while in the cave. I have no idea how to fix this but it will make no difference when playing the game.
  • The mod is not compatible with Dynamic Collision Adjustment as it means the players can't navigate the tight passage ways.
