About this mod

This is an SSE and ESPFE version of Great War Commentaries:

"An addon for the Second Great War mod created by Reath, one of my favorite mods out there. Gives vanilla NPCs dialogue reacting to the Aldmeri Invasion. While most NPCs have a generic daily comment, quite a few characters have their unique stance on the conflict."

Requirements
Permissions and credits
Brushed up by yours truly, compacted to ESPFE (it will not take up an ESP slot in your load order) and republished to SSE with permission from the author.

I take no credit for the mod. All permissions are determined by Kubitz. This is merely an SSE conversion.

Description from the original Oldrim page:

-----------------

With this Mod, the Second Great War becomes a real event in Skyrim. NPCs are finally aware of the dire situation.

Some NPCs have their unique reactions, mirroring their personality or quests. Not only have I added greetings specific to the Great War, but I also expanded some characters personalities as I saw fit.

Now the Stormcloak Generals each have their own character, not just being blunt mindless copies of each other. Frokmar Banner-Torn regrets not having found a peaceful solution to the civil war, Hjronskar desires genocide on elves and Kai Wet-Pommel wants to be a priest of Talos. Oh and the Imperial Legates too of course.

I loved the mod Second Great War, and I always played it extensively, winning and loosing countless battles, playing other mods in between and placing Thalmor agents into other mods to make it seem as if they are hunting for artifacts and stuff like that. One thing I missed though, was the lack of NPC awareness during the mod. So I took it upon myself to do this. I love the modding community, really, but I sometimes wish there were more people trying to make Skyrim immersive. I mean, I know XVA synth dialogue sounds a bit robotic, but it’s the best we have, and it’s much better than just silent dialogue or switching voices. So here you go!

Many voice types now have one or two comments on the Great War going on, whereas some NPCs actually say a little more specific stuff (Captain Aldis, Torbjorn, Idgrod Ravencrone and Captain Lonely-Gale), fitting their character or backstory. Jarls of course have something to say too, though I was too lazy to add dialogue for every single one. Runil, the priest of Arkay with a troubled past also has a few lines added to him I thought were direly needed in this thalmor-invasion event.

Most stuff, and I’m sorry for that, is with an Civil War Empire-victory in mind, but if you did the Stormcloak route there are two or three specific comments on that. Remember “in mind”, doesn’t mean that the other dialogue lines make no sense for a Stormcloak victory, it just leans a little towards it, in a suggestive manner.

Tying into my “Useless Relationships” Mod that I rarely work on right now, Gonnar Oath-Giver and Skald the Elder make a reference to the mod by mentioning Skald’s son (a pirate and Stormcloak supporter) and Stenvar being Gonnar’s brother. Sorry for that, but I wanted it in my play-through, so you will have it too.
Some NPCs only have one or two lines. A few examples are Thadgeir, Hemming Blackbriar, Vignar or Risaad.

I mostly play the civil war for an imperial victory, but often spare a lot of the Stormcloak generals to make them either a RPG-nemesis or ally during an event like the Second Great War. With this mod installed, if you play the civil war, I advise you to leave the Stormcloak Generals alive, they have something to say about this war and develops their characters a lot. Depending on the choice of file you make, the Generals might even be capable warriors. Now if you use a mod like "Call of the Dragonborn", you could assign them to the nordic horn for example and summon them into battle against the Dominion, and have them die fighting for their homeland instead of being slaughtered by you, that is, if you actually want them to fight for Skyrim. I always felt like the Stormcloaks are misunderstood, while I like squashing the rebellion for their nord-supremist ways, I think people like Ralof, Hod or Olfina Gray-Mane actually are good people and no racist nords.

While I always played the Skyrim side for now, I added a few greetings should your player join the Dominion instead. Guards or people like Unmid Snow-Shod will be angry with you for betraying Skyrim.

I might add some more over the next months, but I make no promises. Consider this the final version.

There are no spliced game files, it's all created by me in the Synth provided by Dan Ruta.
Credits go to Bethesda for this wonderful game and Reath's Second Great War.

Big Thanks to Dan Ruta and everyone else involved in the XVA Synth in the
slightest way because without it, this mod wouldn't be possible.
