After eating any food you'll be locked out of the inventory and any menus for 5 seconds and a notification will appear.
If your weapon is drawn or you're in combat, you'll not be able to eat.
Well, you can try to sneak in a snack, but for the next 5 seconds, no peeking at your inventory! Don't be a food spamming warrior during combat - nobody likes that! This feature works like a charm, especially when paired with need mods.
