As said above these followers don't know how to fight and will run when the fighting starts. If you like a more immersive carryweight in your game then you can just pass the weight to these guys. With EFF and Followers live package you could set them up a daily or weekly pay to carry your burdens. I set them all at 10000 Stamina so I am not sure what their max carry weight will be but a simple console command can make it whatever you want... open the console "` key" and click on the NPC then type modav carry weight 1234 or whatever and click enter then close console. If you have extended UI just clicking on the NPC will open a box in the console showing their stats. Pushing the Tab button in the console will change boxes of info around. It is not hard to do this, you just need to have the will and want to do it. Your mods will make outfits and the NPCs themselves look how you modded them.
