UPDATE PLEASE READ BEFORE DOWNLOADING OR I WILL CRY:

The Sentinel 2.0 Update changes the mod's requirements. This mod no longer makes use of Spell Perk Item Distributor, and instead makes use of Skypatcher. Do not update on an existing save game.

The benefit of this change is to allow users to pick and choose what armors they want in their game without the need for endless patching. If you only wanted one or two of the armors you see, that option is supported. If you want the whole suite, you can do that too. For that reason, I've also retired the legacy patch page in favor of a patch collection on this page.

Sentinel 2.0 features significantly more equipment than was available in the original mod. See the screenshots above to see what armors are available, then pick and choose which armors you want using the installer.

If you want to make a patch for Sentinel, you have my permission to upload it. I do not have interest in making bodyslide patches, as this project has already taken significantly longer than anticipated to update and maintain.

Introducing:

Arms and armor are essential tools of any Dragonborn. Be you a hardened smithy or a dungeon crawler, a lawbringer or a fashion icon, every adventurer expresses themselves through the items they wear and carry.

What is Sentinel?

Sentinel is an overhaul of Skyrim's equipment, intended to increase the variety of armors, weapons, and clothing items available to the player. Using Skypatcher and leveled lists, the mod introduces new variations of the game's standard items, which have the opportunity to appear in the same places the original items would normally.

For example, the Dragonborn might acquire an Iron Helmet after looting a dungeon chest, defeating a bandit, or trading with a blacksmith. With Sentinel installed, that Iron Helmet could be a Northern Iron Helmet, or a Rugged Iron Helmet, both of which are pictured below:

Each of these items - the Iron Helmet, the Northern Iron Helmet, and the Rugged Iron Helmet - are functionally identical. They possess the same stats, appear in the same locations, and are crafted the same way. None of the game's original items are entirely replaced.

What equipment is added?

Sentinel features, with permission, popular assets created by NordWarUA, XavbioDeydranosOrneryOchreOcelotl, CaBaLMaty743, Sandaron, gearshout, MANHUNTER69, and ElleH. You do not need to download any additional mods for the items in this mod to appear. Thank you to each of these authors, they are each wonderful artists.

Here is a small selection of what is available. View more in the image gallery, and decide which you want to include in your game via the mod's installer.

What are this mod's requirements?

As of Sentinel's 2.0 update, this mod requires Skypatcher to function. I also highly encourage you to use this mod alongside Constructible Object Custom Keyword System, although it is not technically required.

Skypatcher is used for a number of things, including distribution of equipment across leveled lists, containers, and NPCs. The mod applies its changes at runtime, so you will not experience the face discoloration bug as a result of this mod.

The Constructible Object file significantly improves the categorization logic of the Smithing menu using keywords introduced by Sentinel. Considering this mod introduces a lot of new craftable items, this file should greatly reduce the amount of time you spend looking for an item you want to craft.

There are also patches available to make other popular armor mods use this framework.

Each of these pages credit several additional authors who helped port assets, create patches, or who contributed in other miscellaneous ways to the various source mods. I've not used all of the assets from each of these mods, but for the sake of completeness, here's as comprehensive of a list as I could put together regarding who has contributed to these assets as they exist today:
