About this image

Mod was removed from the Nexus last year even though the original author had permissions for the model used. I still had it on my harddrive and decided to retexture the wolves included to make them more ... wolfy. Unfortunately won't be able to ever upload it unless I can 1) get in touch with the original author and 2) provide definitive proof the assets had the right permissions so that it wouldn't get taken down again. It looks excellent in game, would be a shame if I couldn't share this when it's finished.

    This is the most realistic wolf, when I look at him, I see how he twitches his ears, and how he breathes, I feel that in a moment he will remember the life of a wild beast, and hide in a dense forest!

    it´s a shame such a good retexture was not completed. Still looking for a good visual mod for wolves, to a decent resolution ....

      I still have this in my projects folder, things just came to a standstill because weighting the alpha planes to the rest of the skeleton was a nightmare. I'll try to pick it back up soon.

    WOW, something like this was uploaded last year on I didn't see it?! I'll never forgive myself :'[ Can one of the big projects not alter the model enough to use it?

      Honestly I'm not sure why it was taken down. It's a model from turbosquid free for noncommercial use. I'd reupload it with my own textures myself, but the meshes the author uploaded on the original mod were still rigged/adapted to vanilla skyrim's wolf skeleton by him, and I don't want to steal/take credit for the work he did. I don't have experience with rigging, otherwise I'd just download the original turbosquid files myself and make my own mod. Maybe I'll try anyway, can't hurt. Outfit Studio's bone weight copying might help.

      Oh, the previous author only did the rigging? That's a lot less serious than making the model. If you remeber their name, I ~think~ you can just give credit to him for that and publish. If you want to do it yourself and need help learning, the peeps over on the Arcane University discord https://discord.gg/qSXd72c can point you to a good guide to get started.\ and answer questions along the way.

      Yeah I've been thinking about it some more and I may end up publishing! Some testing in-game showed a lot of the bone weights were screwed up anyway, so I've been redoing a lot of the weight painting myself. Nexus rules can be kind of uhhh-- fickle, sometimes, but I'm hoping all the stuff I've done to modify the original files is enough to justify it staying published. Thanks for the link, I'll keep it in mind if I do end up needing to go back to the roots and rig it myself. :)

    I have the original mod aswell but the textures aren't as good as yours. You did really good job on that. :) That's unfortunate author may never upload it again. With your textures that mod could be the best wolf replacer on Nexus.
