It's a combination of more silver/metal sheen (non-rusted) chain and a round wood frame that reminds me of barrel staves.
It's an interior light fixture so I don't know why it would be rusty unless there's a leak in the roof. :)
Then again a lot of buildings during that hypothetical era were probably damp and drafty. hahaa
But I would go with a non-rusty look for interior lighting.
