However, I think Simb is right. After getting ripped off in Whiterun for a 2 minute coach trip, I'm not sure she'd trust them again in a hurry.

Idiot Elf = No actually, it was a book. Did you see a lady with blond hair in leather armour come out of the Inn last night?

Guard Gary = Yes. She trotted off towards Riften I think. And at quite a pace I can tell you. Thought it was a bit late for someone to go out jogging.
Idiot Elf = And you didn’t think to challenge her, at that time of night?
Guard Gary = I couldn’t have caught her. Not with my old knee injury. Sorry.
Idiot Elf = OK Lydia, what do you think? The Greybeards want us to find this Horny thing. Some crazy cult wants to stop me getting to Solstheim. And a lady has nicked the only book that can teach us the Dragon Tongue. So which direction do we head for?
Lydia = Well, I’d suggest that Solstheim can wait. We don’t even know for sure that you are this “True Dovahkiin”. If we go for the Horn, Ustengrav is in the opposite direction to Riften. So, it you want to see that book again, we’d better head for Riften.
Idiot Elf = True. And we may need the book to interpret any Dragon Script we come across.
Lydia = She’s got a good head start on us. But perhaps we can catch her if she’s delayed on the route.
Idiot Elf = Come on then, the chase is on.
Idiot Elf = I wonder how far Riften is?
Lydia = We should make it before nightfall, if we keep a good pace and have no distractions.
Idiot Elf = About a week then!
