It's an idea I have been toying with for about 8 months. I've been collecting resources to build it. This last batch of models from 3 D C sort put the last piece in place. I'll be posting more images as I get further along. I finally got the over view down. Now I can move to a smaller level of detail.
So, you've been setting the groundwork for a Future Skyrim Overhaul mod? That's quite ambitious. I know it's just concept right now, but were you imagining it as having Cyberpunk elements?
I was thinking everything we love in The Elder Scrolls mixed with everything that's cool about Appleseed or Ghost in the Shell. I very much like the idea of High Fantasy mixed with High Tech. Sometimes I just want to see my Khajiit Hero armed with a laser rifle and doing battle with an Elven Wizard and his Robot Minions, while riding on the back of a Dragon. So, yes. Things like Shadowrun have been a big inspiration. It's hard to enter the realms of Sci-Fi and not have Cyberpunk elements. It's just become so much a part of the mythos. Mostly because many things that were "Cyberpunk" in the '1980s' are now available at your local Verizon store. The best Science Fiction usually ends up becoming Science Fact.
How very perceptive of evolving trends. Certainly when you watch the first Bladerunner you realize some of mundane gadgets we see were actually "future devices" back when people first saw it in theaters. I certainly like the vision you have of such a project, and the feel of the end goal.
Like I said, I'm hoping Bethesda will steal the idea and do it better than I can. Really, though, I got the idea from Halofarm's mod, Aether Suite. I'm just using what resources I can scrape together and what knowledge I've been able to pick up from the web to bash something together for the sake of a hobby. I wish i had the money to buy all the models I want. I would love some of this guys stuff. https://www.renderosity.com/mod/bcs/?ViewProduct=103848 But once I start getting into all that I could just buy a new game cheaper. That's the thing I don't even play the game anymore. I spend all my time importing assets and testing them in the CK. I'm doing my best to not spend all my money on Renderosity and Sketchfab. I've been collecting for a while now and have a ton of stuff. Just takes time getting it converted into something the game can use.
The ever present dangers of modding - time intensity, cost overruns and publishers hounding your heels. Still, I commend you on what you managed to accomplish with what little you had. It is still impressive. As far as I know, the closest Bethesda will get to your vision is the new Starfield IP they have lined up. But after Fallout 4, I'll reserve judgement long after the last reviews come out. If it was Obsidian making it however, that I would pay upfront for.
Until then I'll just look forward to Cyberpunk 2077 from CD Projekt RED.
I haven't heard much about Starfeild IP. Can't tell if it's Elder Scrolls or not. The teaser for Cyberpunk 2077 is cool.
You mentioning Obsidion makes me miss the old BioWare. Not many video game companies still have the rebelious edge that was so prevalent back in the late 90s and early 00s. It's possible back then the people that could do the job had a little more creative leverage due to their skillset not being so common. Then EA bought everything and the BioWare Strut was no more. (In the initial release of NWN the female characters had a very sexy walk that was later patched out, same with KOTOR)
