Soon BnP skins will arrive for UBE with new details and unique stuff just for this amazing race mod. With UBE you can make amazing player characters. This is what we are going to play as.
I'm still trying to find my way around with UBE just like I did with COTR, specially since the thing they did with the normal maps has caught my attention, tho the skin texture does not help at all lol. Great character btw! I'm also excited to find out how the BnP UBE skins will look like! :)
My only problem with UBE is that you need patches for everything. You want to use Simonrim? Okay, figure out how to give the UBE races the proper racial traits from Aetherius, and maybe even Scion for vamp related stuff (though with luck the RaceCompatibility Scion Patch would make it manual patching unnecessary if UBE has the right keywords).
You wanna use all your favourite makeup, eye, and brow mods? They don't work out of the box, so you need to find COTR (since the head mesh is basically the same) and/or UBE patches, and/or make your own if you know how.
Well UBE 2.0 can't have enough resources to become a "default race", replacing all NPCs and thus using vanilla entries for vanilla races. That's why it's a custom race that needs patches. Yes, sure HPH and 3ba is better for gameplay cuz of that, but I care much more about the visual side of things, so that screenarchers (for example) can easily use UBE 2.0 without breaking existing setup (most of the time)
I mean, to be fair, the poly count on UBE 2.0 is so high that if every NPC used it I imagine the game would either crash or become incredibly unstable which is why I understand UBE 2.0 uses custom races rather than being a drop-in body mesh and texture replacer like BHUNP or CBBE 3BA. I'm also curious about UBE 2.0 usage with Community Shaders rather than ENB, especially now that CS has Dynamic Cubemapes, Subsurface Scattering and Wetness Effects.
I'm not exactly saying that UBE is bad for gameplay, it just takes more effort to make it work with gameplay mods, especially those that effect races.
And I'm not curious about Community Shaders at all. Maybe nominally they added these effects, but still the game with CS looks like a vanilla game with Reshade with minor bonuses. Some1 tries to accuse ENB of eating FPS even when ENB "effect" is turned off, but ENB unlike CS fixes vanilla shaders' bugs of various sorts and I mean.... CS has shadows striping, vanilla AO (which is very bad and buggy), plus some shaders such as Screen Space Shadows RUIN FPS sometimes more than a moderately loaded ENB preset
The beauty of CS is that it's Open Source so while CS currently uses the vanilla AO, there are people working on CS add-ons for SSAO and SSGI. I feel like it's only a matter of time before CS surpasses ENB in terms of both quality and performance.
Both quality and performance, just because CS is open source? Non sequitur, top tier graphic coders won't ever work for free, and so far Doodlez himself is only able to take open source shaders that are of mediocre quality, nothing special (performance wise as well). Skyrim itself isn't open source, it requires major skill to work with this 13 y.o. game in order to reanimate it. Yes, even adding something like SSAO is very performance unfriendly, cuz roughly speaking SSAO is... a cheaper form of RAYTRACING, it can't be cheap if u want a good quality.
UBE is the best race/body so far released but it mostly just for Screenarchery, sadly it came too late to the party since it legit has no patches, even in their discord you will find mostly nothing, yes sure there are some armors, but thats it. Maybe realesing it for TES6 will make the body/race whatever it is somewhat popular, or maybe not.
Maybe if there are your skins for it I will be tempted. In the meantime, UB... something there looks like silicone coated with plastic. I'm staying with BnP.
The majority of UBE/Gen8 skins are aimed for realism anyway. U can check out UBE 2.0 main page and the screenshots there and see different skins, different styles. Sure, installing UBE 2.0 doesn't necessarily mean that u'll automatically get a nice looking character: lighting means a lot of course, using makeup is very advised cuz regularly all skins have too ideal facial skin as in no blemishes, no discoloration, etc. And yeah, comparing to HPH ur sliders get proper lighting when u dial them, making it much versatile comparing to anything else, but also more prone to mistakes, distortions.
You're right Johny, I'm not clinging to the UBE tool itself, because it's a good tool ( or even the best one created so far ). The only problem is that UBE is very "fuel intensive" so to speak. But this is a hardware issue: CPU, RAM, VRAM, GPU, etc. What I wanted to convey in this post is just that I don't like the currently available skins and I'm waiting to see what Swefrida comes up with Regards.
I dunno, I have a very old PC and somehow I can play the game even with 8k uncompressed textures for UBE, and having around 40-60 fps. I don't have JK Skyrim installed for example and other catastrophically bad mods for performance (draw calls wise, etc)
It will be difficult for me to change from 3BA to UBE (maybe I will change in the future) at launch I saw people complaining about performance, I saw that the owner is doing everything possible to be more optimized and also in terms of armor conversions... I use high Poly for NPCs and this one doesn't yet exist unfortunately🥲
Well UBE 2.0 by default is a player only race, it doesn't affect NPCs anyhow. As for making a proper UBE replacer for all NPCs, it requires much more time than for HPH and would require similar efforts as game dev studios devote their time to making NPCs, meaning a lot of months, maybe years of work (depending how many people work on that)
it's not worth it IMO. the body sliders aren't very great. i thought it would be a ton different. also COTR only looks good posing IMO HPH and CBBE still looks great. I've tried COTR and UBE and they never looked as good as my HPH presets. it's basicallt COTR with a larger body with saggy coins in a sock looking boobies XD
